Restarting the topic, huh? L$200 for a blog post is still really, really cheap. I wouldn't call that employment.Β

Actually, if you're a skilled host or DJ you can earn quite a decent sum in a set. I'm not a skilled host but I've still racked up L$1,800 in 2 hours of work.Β

Of course, hosting/DJing is all about creating your own revenue, getting people to get into the club, interacting with them and making sure they have a good time.

Don't even bother, look at the gem he posted in this thread:

Double standards ftw.

Yes, I saw that one... If only I'd had a cup of tea so I could spit it out when I read it.

1800L in 2 hours? i have hosted at clubs and applied at those club jobs posted here made close to 1000L once or twice in a whole year...some days with great luck 200L-350L that too friends paying me hardly any vips and we got used to getting nothing...i have also Djed at some rock clubs..and i remember the huge number of owners i had to fight who justified DJs should not work for the lindens when they promised to "pay" DJs here...most of these new clubs don't even enough vips....only 2 clubs i know that is worth working at and they are too crowded so u hardly ever see their hiring ads hereΒ

coming back to this one...i dont care about writing but looking at the large number of employers who get away with falsely promising tips and payΒ here Β i don't see whats wrong with someone offering a certain amount for writing...if they dont pay this promised amt then thats another story..

in other words ppl offer wat they can afford as long as they pay is all good and if its too little for you nobody is asking you to work for them....

And for me it was a fairly low-traffic club with a very niche clientele. Shrugs.

L$1,800 wasn't the everyday haul, on a weekday it might be closer to L$750. Still, if you interact with the crowd and don't just stand there spamming your pre-made 'GIVE DJ MONEY, GIVE CLUB MONEY, WE NEED MONEY' stuff, you're much more likely to receive a tip. I don't know what shacks you've hung out at, but none of the clubs I frequent see a DJ off after a 2 hour set with less than L$500. Heck, I've visited private events our DJs have played at where they'd rack up L$5,000+ in an hour or two.

Still, that's not really on the topic - regardless, L$200 for a blog post is ridiculous unless all you want is an amateurish, half-arsed LTTE where someone just proposes an uneducated opinion.

In regards to the how much has been made djing, I remember I worked one set (As a dj, at a popular club) I pulled in 5k in one night (I only dj'ed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so not busy nights normally). And on average, i would make 2-3k. With jobs like that, Its all about what you put into it, and how you sell yourself.Β

Now in regards to the option for the blogger, to be fair, most bloggers dontΒ make L's, they receive free items from stores they are hired by when they have a release. And that is only so you will post it on your blog. To find a paid blogging position is rare, even for 200L's, considering most bloggers you see out there, dontΒ make anything as not all have stores they work with.Β

Honestly the product would be more valuable, 200L isn't even a dollar I believe. If you are truly skilled in writing it is just plain self-sabotage to ever sell your self for so low. I am not shading the OP as I'm certain someone out there will do it and they have all rights to post it here for chance.Β  But can we please stop lowballing creatives. You will always get what you pay for.

A product worth 5000L such as a mesh head would be far more profitable as people navigate your blog and contribute to your ad revenue, or other ways to make money. You would earn way more than the dollar through out time and you have rights to your own blog post, which is posted on your blog, for your viewers. You reap practically all benefits.

Also, lets be honest writing for other people can be entirely boring. Comparing a DJ'/Host/Escort/Dancer job to this is quite silly as I'd assume people joined second life to play second life. With a job like that you can set your own hours, make friends, and role play all while earning money.
