0 Peewee Musytari
You can buy a private sim direct from LL for $1000 and the monthly tier fee is $295 - If you live in a country that charges VAT there is also VAT charged at the same rate as you pay in your home country. http://secondlife.com/land/privatepricing.php You can buy cheaper from other residents that are selling theirs, you can find some in the Land search, others are advertised on the forums http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Regions-for-Sale-Full-Regions/bd-p/RegionsforSaleFullRegions Make sure that the seller is talking about a full transfer sale & when you agree a price you both submit a ticket to support & LL do the transfer for you. The monthly tier fee is still $295.

0 LoveAngeL Lyre
In world you can "buy" a full sim by another user for just 1 linden. Lets clear that when we say "BUY" we mean that you will get rights of owner for the sim or sometimes most of them but you continue to pay the tier every week. Calculate about 19,500 - 20,500 L$ / week for a full-primed region.
0 wolverine Xaron
thank you. Is 295 linden dollars in the meantime?Do you or the American dollar? Do you hire more advantageous?
0 Peewee Musytari
The tier fee is US$295 a month, if you rent one inworld you would save the cost of buying the sim, but the monthly charge would still be at least $295 because that is the amount that LL will be charging to the owner. 0 Peewee Musytari
Here in the UK we get charged $US 295 + 20% VAT (Tax) If you are in a country that charges VAT then it will definately be cheaper for you to rent, because you would pay rent to the sim owner and they do not charge VAT. You only pay VAT on fees that you pay direct to LL.
0 wolverine Xaron
We have 18% vat. From turkey So 295 dollars is paid once.. VAT 18% is paid each month. Is it true? :D
0 Peewee Musytari
Correct, if you buy the sim from LL they will charge you $1000 +18% and then $295 +18% each month.

0 Ishtara Rothschild
I'll give it a try in simple English: 1. Go to the Second Life website and log in with your name and password. 2. Click "Buy Land" in the menu bar, or click the link that Storm posted: http://secondlife.com/land/?lang=en-US 3. Click either "Buy an undeveloped Private Region" or "Buy a Themed Private Region". Undeveloped means that the island has no buildings. Themed islands include buildings. Don't worry, you can change everything later on, including the shape of the land. 4. Click "Choose Full Region" on the next page. The other two island choices are only available if you already own a full region. 5. You will be redirected to the land store. Pick a free spot on the world map, where your island will be set up. You can scroll through the map by clicking and dragging the mouse. 6. Check out and confirm your purchase.
