Yes pleeeease!   There are soooo many great ideas above  for improvements that should or need to be made.   Having a voice in future improvements I think is very important as we are the ones using MP daily, as businesses and customers, and can make suggestions that maybe weren't even thought about by LL.  I also agree that there should be a form survey for businesses and a separate one for customers, so we both get to chime in our inputs.   Thanks Charlotte for taking the initiative in starting this thread <3  One can only hope who ever is in charge would value our input

I agree with Narcisse on the improvement to the feedback/reviews system. Creators should have a chance to help the customer before negative feedback is placed. This would be incredible.

And what Blueberryxx says about a store manager option is huge! This would be a game changer.

4.  Easier updating for prices on the 'manage listing' page instead of editing each individual listing for sure.  If something's been sitting for a while and I want it to go, and maybe I have many items like this, I don't want to take forever updating.  It'd be nice to edit them all at once from one page.

This is one of many helpful things Xstreet had. It was so easy to bulk change change prices.

I'd be more than happy to pay 10%, even 15% commision to LL if we get all of that. If not, the level of service they provide is hardly worth 5%.

No way it will happen. And don't forget it's not staying at 5%... The bottom of Ebbe's letter:

In the coming months some other fees may increase, including Marketplace commissions, Linden Dollar exchange fees, and cashout fees.

I think that would be worthy of a new thread topic in itself....... :$

We know increased fees are coming, @Ebbe Linden has been quite transparent about rebalancing income streams.

I don't mind them, if LL really do provide me with tangible benefit that makes it worth while to keep creating on here.

Hence this survey if we can get buy in for them to put it out, would at minimum, give them a bucket list of potential idea on what they could charge us more for,.  However, win -win - we pay more, but get so much more in terms of capabilities to sell our products / and customers to find our products and increase our sales.

It really is in their best interest to not have a long thread here, but have a controlled survey so they can really start to prioritize cost/benefit of the ones with the strong business case above.  That way they can ensure the maximum return on investment of those developer hours it will take to do work on the Marketplace etc.

As a buyer, there are ridiculous inadequacies to the shopping process. Simply adding booleans to the search process would bring the Marketplace into the 21st century! Having a time/date stamp on listings would be great, too.

I'd also like to see separate search categories for mesh versus system. Most everyone has jumped on the mesh bandwagon but not all have. There are many system entries still sifted in among the mesh entries and it would be nice not to have to open every listing to find out what is and what isn't. It would benefit both those who have embraced mesh and those who haven't.

Having the ability to favorite designers/stores would also be helpful. The wish list is nice, but it takes time to sort through if you have several pages.

And I second, third, fourth and fifth the separate market for gachas.

Some things in people's lists are important to me and some not.  I DO very much like the idea of being able to decide what folks see first as "relevant".

YES, I still sell a lot of old items and people are still happy with them (I sold an old prim steampunk house the other day with a five star rating and rave reviews LOL) BUT that is'nt what I want to show up as "popular" on my site when folks come to it  --- understandably.

And while I remembered that there was supposed to be (or used to be) a way to change store SLURL -- it didn't work this week and I went through over 200 listings by hand. NOT FUN!

I am a merchant and what I find to be very difficult is price changing. For example, I would like to have a weekend sale, but to do that I have to go into each item and change the price. Just anything  to control pricing on multiple items would be great.

I would also like to have help available just for merchants. If we are contributing to the economy we should have specialised help. Time and time again I have not been helped in a satisfactory way. Some of the problems: Unreasonable unlisting. Unreasonable reviews. Products being unlisted without explanation.

There isn't a help drop down menu for merchants. And the selections to help Merchants is zero. Any Improvement to help those who fuel  the economy in Second Life  would be seriously appreciated.

My final suggestion would be to fix the search in Marketplace. This is a serious fail.

I am but a customer... And this goes out to the clothing designers. I would love to see mesh clothing from all designers layer over and with other clothing items as much as possible. You guys do so well at what you do... though very hard for a AVI to dress without glitching over other items. Maybe a standard should be made with this in mind.

I want the ability to turn anything in my Favorites folder into a Wishlist item others can buy for me.

Once bought, wishlist status for the object is turned off and "Bought for you buy <agent name> shows next it.

So with this we need the ability for others to check if there are any Wishlist items in a store owner's Favorites or have those objects moved to a dedicated Wishlist folder.

I have people that want to buy me things and it would be less hassle for them to ask me what I want when they could browse my Wishlist folder and pick whatever they can afford.

Booleans as in AND , NOT, OR and the like? you can do that now..

I second the date timestamp idea also a "last visited" date stamp of the merchant would be nice too.

A wishlist built in to the actual MP..

Having merchant names NOT pop up in an item search.. There is a merchant tab for a reason, they should only pop there. I dont need to see Jim Sword pop up with his lingerie when i want a sword..

Having demos not pop up at all.. They should only show up in the listing as  a link.

Being able to see more than 10 ten in my favorites at a time.. i can see 100 items if i am a merchant, why not in the favorites.

And everything else people have said..

Also, STOP SAYING YOU WILL PAY MORE FOR THINGS!! Don't give them the idea that we are satisfied with the MP. It needs fixing. Hell, we pay for the textures, and the mesh and the commission, and the inworld store.. They get enough fo a cut without thinking they need more.

Yes pls.

Although the Marketplace process has improved over the years. There is definitely stacks of ways its user experience could be streamlined, for both merchant and customer.

100% would love to be given the opportunity to voice some ideas/vote on some suggestions.

A premium package could also work, especially if it enabled real change.

I know, I saw that in Prokofy's post elsewhere here.

I sell at a few internet markets too. Some of them charge as much as 40% and I'm quite happy about that. But to illustrate this for people not too familiar with the merchant side of MP. If this was a "normal" internet market:

This would be The Second Life Marketplace:

@Ebbe Linden of all people, has to has to be aware that. He's worked at Yahoo after all. He knows what it takes and he doesn't usually make empty promises so with him directly involved, I'm not giving up all hope.

I may be wrong but I do not believe it is possible to repair MP, it's too broken for that. Sooner or later LL will have to do something similar to what they did with the forums and the support pages last year: replace it with a brand new marketplace based on a professional internet store solution. That's going to be a huge job but the longer they wait, the harder it gets.

If the demos and color variants aren't to be listed as separate items anymore - and I think those are essentail upgrades - it won't even be possible to migrate the old database directly. One possible solution would be to keep the old MP online at a new URL, launch a brand new one (with prominent links to the "heritage" or "classic" MP), and then let each merchant transfer their back catalog to the new platform at their convenience. Of course, that would require some additional software to make the transfer job as easy and smooth as possible. It would also cause an uproar among mesrchants of course but that would be nothing compared to the reactions LL would get if MP stayed down for weeks the way the forums and support pages did.

I forgot two things on my list:

  1. Limited quantity items are automatically delisted when sold out (or do they already have that?)
  2. CSV and/or XLS bulk uploads of listings

I'd like to see a new button added "Buy Now as Gift" or have the "add to cart as gift" button replaced completely.

Too many times I've had to send a free item to the intended recipient because the buyer added to the cart, but then clicked the "Buy Now" button instead of checking out through the cart to have the gift delivered.

There's got to be a more user friendly and intuitive way to deliver a gift to someone.

delete merchants who no longer have an account or have not logged in in anyway for more than a year even.

Half the complaints we get in the forum are due to awol merchants. Would save us and Support a lot of time.

We have already been hit with a huge Process Credit fee increase. Is LL aware that in the SL economy, supply just keeps expanding forever (much of it no longer resident made), while concurrency / demand keeps contracting?  I feel like I am teaching school again, and whenever the state needs money they get it on teachers’ backs.

How about LL doing their job increasing retention, to lift all boats, instead of killing off the Golden Geese?

I honestly LOLed when i first heard they wanted to arm teachers in the US.. I was like, "Wait, they have money for training and weapons but i have to send my kids to school with boxes of pens, pencils and reams of paper?!?!?"

I have to agree with alllllll of these.

Especially about multiple accounts accessing/editing marketplace listings. If I went one step further, I would LOVE to see the ability to have a 'business/creator' membership level (give it a higher membership fee, sure) that allows for multiple accounts to act as one when it comes to marketplace listings and access the "business" avatar.

Having multiple people be able to access an account would be a huge difference for designers in the workload - essentially right now one person is stuck doing all the work in the case of a group of designers and/or partnership.

Disallow reselling of gacha on Marketplace completely. Its confusing for buyers who do not understand gacha. Many believe they are buying from the original creator and that in itself creates all kinds of issues. It is too difficult to monitor and control copybotters on MP. They get reported then open a new account, there is no accountability. Inworld reselling can be far more easily monitored and buyers can quickly check the sellers profile and ascertain the risks. Most of the bigger yardsale owners keep a vigilant watch for any suspicious activity on their sims and in the gacha community in general. It is easier to get the word out amongst inworld gacha groups regarding a rogue seller as opposed to sharing that information to the wider MP shopper base.
