LamyaeNeferati
hello, envisioning to own a sim in mid term, would like to know if within a same sim, the owner can set GENERAL/MATURE/ADULT areas? either on Mainland or on islands...
Lisa006 Baxton
*waves* Hello @LamyaeNeferati Only on a private region can the owner change the maturity rating to GENERAL/MATURE/ADULT. This can NOT be done on mainland. Also whatever maturity rating you set for the private region is applied to the WHOLE region not just areas of the region. 3
Love Zhaoying
On mainland at least, land is “predesignated” and I believe you cannot change it. Surely, this is to prevent Mature land right next to General, etc. I’m sure someone will give you a more complete answer. - Helpful Lion is Helpful

LamyaeNeferati
ty thus the sim rating chosen when buying an island is for the whole island: no chances to set lesser or higher rating on specific areas
Lillith Hapmouche
No idea what your conclusion is based upon ... all replies correctly said that ratings on Mainland cannot be changed. On a private, standalone island, you can change your rating whenever you like. However, to get your "general next to moderate next to adult" setup, you'd have to subdivide your sim into single plots per rating. Then assign your preferred rating in the "about land" menu. It's not ideal, though...
LamyaeNeferati
ah oki, ty Lilith, so on private of i do some parcels each can have her own rating that is different from overall island rating? sounds very interesting
Parhelion Palou
There's nothing in About Land that lets you change the maturity rating for the parcel. The rating is set region-wide. You can change the rating of an estate region as often as you wish, not just when you purchase it.

If the owner sets the private region to General, ALL PARCELS WILL BE GENERAL. If the owner sets the private region to Adult, ALL PARCELS WILL BE ADULT. Qie Niangao
The maturity rating is set on a region-wide basis. There is a parcel-specific setting that can be used, regardless of maturity rating, to restrict access to "18 and over" -- a setting that historically specified "age verified" back when there was a whole bogus process for "verifying" one's age. Now that's merely self-reported age with no further verification. This setting certainly does not make Adult content permissible on parcels on non-Adult regions, but it is supposed to screen out self-reported minors, which is one feature shared with Adult-rated regions. Nova Convair
I needed to check that. There is a setting to check on/off in the about section of the parcel. If the sim is set to adult it's set to adult and can not be changed. If the sim is set to general it's labeled moderate but switched off and can not be changed. If the sim is set to moderate it's labeled moderate and you can switch in on or off. Didn't test if it has any effect. I think its only displayed in search result. G regions are *not* next to adult regions because adult regions have things that the under-18s aren't supposed to see. Putting a general parcel in an adult region makes no sense. It doesn't matter anyway, because there is no such thing as a parcel rating that's different than the region rating.
