Family roleplay comes in many shapes in SL, in some cases it isn't even entirely roleplay.

To me, family is a select few people who are there for me in good times and bad, who I trust and respect completely, and who love me for who I am. Being who I am, that's something pretty amazing.

You may find one here on the forums, either by someone responding to this thread, or by looking at other threads regarding family.

What you need to consider is: is it a RP family, or is it a community of good friends who use family titles for each other to denote their loyalty and compassion? Do you want to be part in a horde-like family where keeping up with everyone is close to impossible, or do you want a strong core of a family, one or two parents and just a few siblings perhaps?

I'd strongly recommend looking around thoroughly, and hanging out with potential family for some time before jumping on the chance to become part of it. You don't change families in RL at the drop of a hat, and if there's to be any truth to your SL family the statement should remain true.

Hi Katia,

If you are looking for family RP that consists of RP roles (mother, father, siblings,  grandparents, etc) you can visit the various family community Sims and explore. You can also choose to live there if you really like one. If you are looking to be adopted as a parent or child you can visit the adoption agencies and make a board. Whoever you match with the system will tell you and you can meet on a trial to see how it all goes.

I have had my SL family,  three daughters, their father, and sister for I think going on 6 years now. We have lived in family communities, done adoption agencies, enrolled in RP schools, dance schools, etc etc. If you have any questions I'd be happy to help however I can :)

A good place to start interviewing and asking around is at Heritage Adoptions. You can also visit family sims; Cedar Creek, Orchard Heights, Liberty Bay.

I would also ask what type of relationship are you looking for? What age would you like to be? There are people in the family community aging from toddlers to full grown adults.

Hi Katia, :) There are a lot of great community's out there. It will depend what will fit your personality and your personal wishes in Second Life. Please feel free to come visit Orchard Heights,  a gorgeous family community with a vast 17 sims filled to the brim with originality, a variety of wonderful people and stunning sights. Orchard Heights is a hot spot for residents and guests alike! Those who choose not to join the community are still welcomed to enjoy the daily events and amenities available region-wide! The atmosphere which surrounds Orchard Heights is the most delightful experience many have had during their time in Second Life. Check it out for yourself, you will most definitely not regret it! We have a special HUD available that will help you explore and find all the amenities around the sims with a simple press of a button.

Aside from the community, Orchard Heights also offers full sims & homesteads for those who enjoy the tranquillity off their own private sim with full estate rights, but still want to be a part of a fun community. Pictures speak much louder than words so we would like to invite you to take a look at the Orchard Heights Flickr page and the website for further information.
