just started up and cant find my avatar

need help.just started and downloaded,but where is my avatar? how do i get a avatar?

If you have downloaded the viewer, you need to instal it and then you will have an icon on your desktop to click to open the SL login screen. You enter your username and password there and at first you will be in the world on basic mode. Once you feel like you want more of a challenge you can logout and go back in on advanced mode.
