You are probably using the wrong desktop shortcut & launching an older build of the viewer.

I have the same problem, it keeps wanting to update. I have read the blog but I dont quite understand what to do, can someone help me out?

It's mostly that your are still using the old shortcut, etc - but for SIMPLIFICATION - here is the "sure fire" fix it:

If you use a MAC: Delete the Second Life Viewer, empty trash.

If you use Windows - delete the desktop shortcut to Second Life viewer (and also from shortcut bar if it's pinned there) - empty trash.

Go to Second Life web site and download a fresh Viewer installer file - Mac version is always 64 bit. If you use Windows then get the correct version: 64 bit version if you have Windows 10.

After download - install the viewer afresh.

The only caveat to this "method" is that you will have to redo many of your settings (like graphic setting, etc).

Your Operating System is either 32bit or you have one of the Intel HD graphics cards which also limits you to the use of the 32bit viewer. Please completely uninstall the version of Second Life you are using, then download this version of Second Life and install it.
