Onscreen message said I needed to install a new Media Plugin

I got a message asking me to reinstall Media Plugin//I have no idea where it is..how do I find it?

That's an integral part of your viewer. If you're getting that message these days, it often just means that your viewer failed to load correctly. It happens to me occasionally.  It's annoying, but it clears up if I reboot my computer, or sometimes if I simply leave SL and relog.

Could that be some kind of attack? That's a common form of web attack, asking the user to install some fake "plugin".

There are a number of OLD movie screens and TV's in SL that still require Quicktime. QuickTime is no longer maintained and is a vulnerability for Windows users. Best not to have it installed.

So... it depends on what you are doing when you get the message that decides whether you need to install something.

@Nalates  Urriah-Usually just logging in , I generally get  error messages on log in.. Working on resolving stuff mainly. Thanks for answering!

@SierraStyles There is an RC Viewer called 'Render' that is an updated render engine and likely some support updates are in it. You might try running it and see if it resolves the issue. As it is a separate install it will tell us if its viewer or computer problem.

Well. Render logged me out before I even got logged in tonight.  I was only logging into SL Botanical Gardens aka my home/set as home area.  Go figure. I was on Firestorm longer before I got logged out there.. If i could just get the copy to clipboard to work correctly..argh..
