I commented on your other post:

First thing I'd do is relog.  Sometimes things get odd in SL.  If that is a no go, clearing your texture cache can possibly fix it, cince it would seem to be a texture issue.  Also, pulling out a new copy of the body itself might take care of the problem.

Most likely your viewer is failing to load the appropriate LoD model for the current view distance. Lower LoD meshes are a simplified version of the full model, including the UV maps. If poorly made, these reduced complexity UV maps might end up too close to a texture border, showing the black background that separates the UV shells.

When it happens to my avatar, right clicking to edit forces a reload, most of the times. If this is no avail, next thing i try is to detach it and wear it again. As last resort i do a relog with cache clearing, but this is quite rare in my case.
