i would like to know the answer to this one as well. most of the AO's i see when they are standing around do either the porn star pouty walk around or the "i've really got to pee but can't find a bathroom"  sugared up moving in place.  LOL

would love to gift an AO to someone who's avatar runs me off buildings and pathways with their aggressive moves.

hahahaha!!  YES

Some of the ones with a lot of movements look really cool and all, but I just want to be a lot more subtle... a lot more like real life.

I guess I’ll take a crack at it.

Kuso makes really good animations for a reasonable price. 600-650 for a whole hud. They also sell individuals if you’re into making your own hud.

Voir is also cheap  and very good and has an ao called “almost still” and that’ll run you about 350 on mp. I’m not sure if they have a store where you can try them out though.

Voir does have a store, where you can try the animations one by one on their pose stands.
I got the 'Almost still' one by them, it's... Almost, almost still.

I can understand why people buy poses, but when they buy an AO for just standing, I really don't understand.

Funniest things about AO's are those guys who walk really tough. Can't find a gif to show it to you, but I know everybody seen  one. It's funny.... and looks stupid.

I was helping a male friend make over his avi and we couldn’t find a normal one. Then I found the almost still for men and saw they had one for women.

Thats how I discovered Voir. I haven’t tried them out for myself yet, but I was impressed.

If you like tinkering or don't want to spend much, you can always get copies of the many and various free AOs out there, rez them one by one, copy their contents into inventory folders, and then audition the animations from each to find your favourites. Once you've got a shortlist, load them into an AO Hud and edit the notecard to reflect your choices.

Incidently, if you're using Firestorm, it has a built in AO that's easy to edit (no notecards!), causes zero lag, and works perfectly in a set-and-forget manner (although you can also create alternative 'sets' of animations that you can choose from using a dropdown menu).

I chose the free 'Bright AO' in the end, as it has extra sections for things like facial animations and 'favourites', which none of the other Huds I tried provided. Oh, and Firestorm also has a 'groundsit' button in the toolbar options which you can stick handily somewhere round the edge of your viewer :)

Yes, those walks are ridiculous! Lol.

Interesting point you make though. So what is the alternative? Just to have the system walk and stand, and then just click on an animation and "play locally" whenever you want to not walk like a duck or stand all goofy?  I like the idea of not having to wear the AO, but I just don't know the options I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will check these out!  "Almost still" sounds nice.

"causes zero lag" - awesome!  I have admittedly never tried the Firefox AO. I like this idea. Thanks!

I gave you an alternative. That's an AO, and it looks good. Find the walk and stand you want, you like. That is the most important.

Yeah, I spent ages dithering over it (as a relative newb), expecting it to be horribly complicated. I was so wrong :D

And now that I think of it, I might start using it as my main AO again (I currently just use it for auditioning purposes), and reduce the load on my Bright AO..

i'm so with you there.   i tried some of the mens ones and it was so weird.  they all look like they drank a bit too much steroid juice.  they all look like they are compensating for something. kind look like they are made for men that need to touch themselves every few minutes to confirm they are still men.  i keep getting the feeling they are made for little boys who think men just grab themselves all the time.  grr.

i would love to see a male AO that was reasonable and not overly macho.  just a simple one.

it looks so weird right?  like they are trying to pick a fight with someone.  kind of makes me thing that avatar should be wearing this tshirt to complete the image

You are right.  They are so macho!  I saw a man with a great calm stand the other day. I should have asked him about it!

the voir store is here in SL

they have a new "almost still" mens bento ao that has different animations for flying, walking, etc.  it looks neat. for $350, the price is not bad. considering it's for bento.  will have to check Kuso as well.

You need to hunt that man down and find out. consider it a community service LOL

normally i don't want to encourage stalking but in this one case *whispers* "it'll be our little secret"

hahaha.. you know I did ask him about his dog, so I can find him again in the conversation log. "Excuse me again sir, I basically want to copy everything about you."  That's not crazy, right?

I am using the (went online to get the name) AX-001 Basically Girl AO. It is free all over SL, didn't look for it on MP, but it is really good.

Oh, I love the AX-001 myself but the OP asked for a Natural AO and the AX-001 is about as far away from that as you can possibly get. Even Vista AOs look more natural. ;)

Ok, so I shopped Voir and Kuso, and they both have some nice calm animations. Thanks again!  I ended up going with purchasing a few stands from Kuso and creating an AO set in the Firestorm viewer. It is really easy to use!  The Kuso stands are only L$10 each and I personally preferred them.  I just put the walk, run, fly etc from my existing overdramatic AO into this AO set so I still have those.  Much happier. Thanks for all the help!!
