Hi there!

So today I rented my first piece of land and it is a 1760 sqm sky area with 697 prims. I've bought a house for it but after buying it and fooling around with the decorations and furniture I came up with the idea of having my own nightclub for people and my friends to come hang out, chill, talk, dance and stuff.

It's in the sky so I have no neighbors or anything. But I was thinking I could keep it nighttime at all times, am I able to do that? I'm still new I've only been playing for 5 days, still learning!

>>> The main reason why I'm making this thread is to find someone to be able to help me and even run the place with me if they wanted too! <<<

I would love to make it open to the public and have it so anyone is able to TP and come dance or hang out with each other. I know there are probably way too many clubs and no one will come to mine but, I want to try! Even if no one comes, I would still have it for me and my friends. ^-^

If anyone is willing to help me with my idea and help me set this up and also even operate the whole club with me, with advertising and getting people to come and stuff, please IM me in-game @Jixxur! Or reply below or even private message me here and we can talk. Also if you have any suggestions and tips for me please let me know down below, I would really appreciate all the help I could get.

Thanks for much for reading. ♥

No.  Even if you own the whole sim and can set the default to always midnight, everyone has the ability to set the lighting as they want on their own viewer.  I have a windlight setting I like and have it as my own default no matter where I am.

Don't think I am just trying to harsh your dreams because I want to force this bit much deeper down your throat than that.  You say you know.  Then there is that "but."  If you really knew there would be no but.  No one will come. There are thousands of failed clubs and more every day.  I'm telling you it doesn't even matter if you are good or not. You are not "in" with the right people and any club you start is quite literally just throwing money away.

Don't start a club.

Build a dance floor on top of your sky home if you expect to have friends over.  Rent a stream and learn to DJ.  Practice on your friends.  Then start looking for gigs as a DJ.  Meet people.  Talk to owners of successful clubs and see just how many "successful" places are hemorrhaging lindens and are run as a labor of love.  Then, sometime in early 2019, re-think you idea for a club.

Thats a bit early to invest so much, isn't it?

Give yourself a bit more time to figure stuff out, would be my advice. But beside that... just be aware that a club is just another way to spend your money in SL. Its never a source of income...like ever. If it ever was, then that small bit in time has been gone for ten years. If you still want to go ahead: Build your club more like a hangout. Small, so it doesn't feel empty when just five friends drop by. And cozy, so people feel like its a place to hang out, even if they aren't in the mood for the biggest, most crowded party. I know a furry club who has been around for years, that has that kind of design theme and it works quite well.

Anyway, good luck and have fun decorating and building.

Anything is possible! Everything is achievable. And each time you fail at something, learn the lessons why and make the next try better!

So you know, a nightclub is something ideal for a super-extrovert who has a huge friend list, and loves to gather a lot of people. If you are this sort of personality you will go far. It's hard work though, you need to be there to keep people there.

You will also have a lot of tries before you get the right formula. But the first steps are always memorable.

You might want to ensure that the plot you've decided to get can actually be used for that purpose without taking up resources for others on the sim too. If you're renting from someone, the rental company may not even allow it. Your parcel isn't the only one, remember you have to SHARE resources ;)  Even if you only expect a handful of people, you may not be allowed to have a club there at all.

Other than that...everyone else already said everything that needs to be said.

Just a quick note on a bit of Tari's post that might confuse a new user such as yourself. By "share resources", she doesn't mean the number of prims (LI) that you are allowed to place on your parcel. That's all yours. She means other things like scripts. A sim, not the parcel, runs all active scripts in the sim, and a parcel that's heavy with scripts used to affect all parcels in the sim, including the one the scripts are on, by using up too much time, so that everything runs slow. Then LL changed it so that all scripts together can't take up too much time, because the time allowed for all scripts in the sim is limited. Even so, a parcel that's heavy with scripts can cause the scripts in the sim to frequently run out time, thereby affecting other parcels.

From just the prims (LI) point of view, a parcel is an island unto itself, but from a scripts, physics, and such, point of view, a parcel within a sim is not an island unto itself. From that point of view, it's the sim that is the island unto itself.

That is the thing, if you are looking for an income source it is a bad idea, but if it is something you love doing go for it. I tried it, never got off the ground and the whole thing ended when the guy who owned the land changed his mind and kicked me off, but it was fun while it lasted, but it cost way more than I could afford to do it right. I still have some of the stuff though and if you are interested in having me come help do this, let me know.

Yes, what he said. I should have clarified a bit, and my apologies for that. This is what happens when I post while binge-watching food shows, sigh, lol

But I also meant as in quantity of people, because that's a resource too, not in the same sense, but in a sense of it's own. You wouldn't want to upset any neighbors on the sim(even if you can't see them) by making it difficult for them to use their parcels too.  You may only be inviting a few people over, and that's all well and good, and likely not going to cause a problem at all, for you or your sim. Still, check with whoever you're renting from first, before opening it, or even inviting more than a handful of folks, to ensure they *allow* it. Some have kinda strict covenants, many don't...but always good to ask in advance :)

Yes. The number of avatars in a sim is also shared between all parcels in the sim. I forgot to include that, and it's an important consideration O.o

For the OP's information, a mainland sim can support up to 40 avatars. A private island sim can support up to 100 avatars, depending on the number that the owner has set. The point being that no parcel should use all or most of the available avatar slots, unless the rest, or most of the rest, of the sim is abandoned land. The chances are that your club won't get anywhere near that but, if it does, you may want to consider moving the club.

As of recent times, those numbers have changed slightly because LL made it so that a full sim can still accept a few premium accounts.

These thinly veil advertising threads crack me up.

He doesn’t want advice he wants help running it.

Also he’s using the tried and true method of “Hey, I got this club see...I need people to do ALL the things! ummm....with me of course...yeah that’s the ticket.”

Can you set a music stream for your sky area? In the standard (Linden Lab's) viewer, go to World on the menu then click on About Land. In Firestorm, go to World on the menu then click on Parcel Details. In the window that comes up, click on the Sound tab then try typing something into the Music URL text box. If you can't you won't have music in your nightclub.
