I have no clue how I got a dress, it was in my received items folder. It is NOT in my transaction history, nor have I gotten an email telling me I was gifted, and YES I get those. How did this dress show up in my inventory? I found the dress on the MP and its like 300L, how did I get this?

It is possible that it was gifted and the email didn't come through for some reason, though I would think that you would still have something in the transaction history.  If you right click the item and look at properties, sometimes you can find the previous owner.  That might at least tell you if it came directly from a creator - i.e. someone did somehow gift it to you via MP or in-store vendor -- or if it was simply dropped on you by someone in SL as a possible griefing item.

Side note -- Second Life Education is probably not the best forum for this.  I'd try one of the Answers sub-forums -- maybe Inventory or Everything Else.

Dropped on you goes to 'objects folder', recieved items folder is MP delivery... Probably a gifted item, possibly by mistake, I know of a friend who sent a 2000+ L$ non trans avatar to the wrong person, and then said "ah what the hell, maybe i just made a new friend...".

Just enjoy the dress if it fits and you like the style.
