October 2017 - exploring SL, I come across a sim called Lutra. A fascinating place - it appears to be an entire town. There are apartments for rent, at a very cheap 25L a week. All pretty sparse - just a bed and a modest prim allowance, and unfortunately no toilet or kitchen. One unlucky resident gets to rent a room with a brick wall view. Two of the rooms ARE rented by actual residents, though, at time of writing, I have not seen them.

Lutra also features skyboxes, which are a little more expensive. I investigated all 10 of these: again, just a bed and not much décor, though all, at time of writing, unrented.

I walked around the streets. There is a deli store but you can't buy anything. I also saw a CD/DVD shop which looked a bit grubby and possibly only catering to 'special tastes', though it was closed. There was also a pub with a bot barman and a drunk bot slouched in the corner - nice décor, but a little unfriendly. I then found a sleazy adult club but it was deserted - two vacant, dirty and unmade beds occupied the top floor.

Lutra also has a bowling alley and some clothes shops. However, all of October - and I have rezzed there every single day of the month - I have not seen ONE other resident. Not even the two renters. Also, none of the pubs/bar areas seem to be parcelled off separately, so, despite having the capability to host events, they seem to be standing idle, unused and unappreciated.

What happened to Lutra? Does anybody know? It seems like some sort of curse befell this sim and everyone deserted it.

Sounds like a "front" for Adult activities.

It isn't. Lutra City was built by @Ilithios Liebknecht mainly as the scene for a series of detective games. The games are still running and recommended for everybody who haven't tried them yet (go to the French & Horn Detective Agency for the free introduction demo) but there haven't been any new ones for a while. I udnerstand Ilitihios has been too busy creating games outside SL.

Hello folks!

Yes Lutra City is still very much operational, although the traffic has died down considerably since a new game has not been released for about 14 months now. I will make a new one when I get the chance, Just haven't had the opportunity.

As of the moment, there are 5 games available, 2 of them free and quite short, and 3 games in the main series for 190L each. After a game release the city is bustling for a while then traffic tends to die down.

Other than the adventure mystery games, there is a Catch-A-Crook game I designed and developed which pays out Lindens to the first person who correctly identifies the crook. As mentioned, there is also bowling and arcade machines in the bowling alley, a Baduk/Go parlor with several Baduk tables to play at, a few stores such as a shoe store, art gallery, and others. In the casino is the absolute most full featured poker table I have ever seen in SL. I just had to buy it. It's a bit tricky to use, but you can play literally any poker game on it because it doesn't enforce specific rules on you. It's just like having a deck of cards and chips.

There are simple apartments to rent in the apartment building for 25L, and larger skybox rooms with higher prim allowance for 50L.

Feel welcome to drop by any time :-)

Oh darn. I was really interested in the idea of a ghost town.

I'm sure there are a few of those in in SL, both intentional and accidental ones. There certainly is a ghost hotel. It was one of the stops on the Magellan hunt but I can't rememebr where it was. Anybode else?

I would actually love to see that.
