Is there a way to derender lights?

Is there any way you can derender an object belonging to someone else, so that you don't see the light coming from it? I know you can block sounds coming from objects, and wondered if the same sort of thing can be done to objects that are emitting light.

Never mind, I just realized I can simply blacklist the object - if there is a way to just derender the lights emanating from the object, I'd be interested to know how do that:)

This depends on your viewer and some of your settings. Firestorm has more options than the Linen viewer.

A good place to check for esoteric settings in the Linden viewer is the SL Wiki page Debug Settings. The nice part is you can use browser search to find things.

Firestorm have as far i know in preference option to block ugly facelight !
Enable advanced lightning will change some brightness to a lower level.
You can or could derender attachments to what you already did. But facelight etc. you need to find by looking for invisible objects in front of avatar before you can click and derender that.
