Food and rentals could be as low as 1 linden per day/meal since there would be so much money to make of it, and could be earned fishing or playing other free games inworld.

Alright, then you entirely kill the entire current rental market, even skyboxes are like a minimum of 50L$ a week. And if you can earn those lindens, why would anyone buy lindens? Spend a bit of time virtually fishing to get free money to not starve or die of sleep deprivation or whatever. There would be no reason to buy lindens to support your character if the support you need is that cheap.

I dont know why people try and take SL and turn it into a facebook game.

Actually, if you scout around enough bar venues/trivia cafes, you can pick up a plentiful supply of burgers, hot dogs, tacos, pizza slices, ice cream and beer for free.

The downside being the inevitable grid-wide obesity epidemic that'd follow.

There are already systems available that let you know you need to eat, or sleep, or exercise, etc.  Why don't you talk with some of those creators and see how many users they have?  That would give you an idea of how popular what you are suggesting might be.  Alternatively, you could build and market a system that does what you think should be required needs and actions (and perhaps even start a family role play area where it's use is required) and see if you can make it catch on.
