Dear Lindens,

For some time, I have noticed that you have significantly reduced the information density on the subject of the release note.

Compare this Release Note from 2012:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/12
with your current Release Note.

Keep in mind that you have Clients, who pay US $ 195 or US $ 295 per month for their region and can certainly request more comprehensive information.
Please do it again as before.

Thank you very much for your attention

Nikira

Not withstanding all the comments made in another thread in this forum, I am saddened by Linden Lab's almost total refusal to comment on the issues that occurred last Wednesday following the roll of server version Second_Life_RC_Magnum/17#17.09.01.328871 .

The fact that some sims went over their maximum LI allocation caused many items to be returned to their owners, some as coalesced objects that have proven impossible to rerez, some no mod no copy scripted items simply broken.  LL have seen fit to make no comment about this or the simple fact that this problem SHOULD have been seen in QA and either wasn't or the QA due diligence was simply not performed.  The change of items from Convex Hull to Prim was first seen and corrected back in 2012.  Are your memories SO short?  Mine are not.

The fact that I and many others PAY to access Second Life and are at the least owed LL's due diligence seems to have been forgotten.  This silence is simply not acceptable, Linden Lab.

Last week I woke up with the notification that our main shop parcel got overflowed with prims and parts got returned. So I ran there, suspected a griefer attack, instead my store was ruined and half returned. Building parts had jumped up from 60 LI to over 200+, store models from 10-20 LI to over 60, even chairs had 2-3 times of the Land Impact. And then came the best, I rerezzed them and couldn't walk inside anymore, the physics was not working anymore. We got help with a ticket and a reroll, but the next days, I got customer complaints why my things wouldn't work anymore and the physics wrecked up. This was not a single incident, I know of several sims where it happened and some had even a lot more damage. We were lucky that we could restore things.

I understand that mistakes happen, we are all human. But what upsets me enormously is that the Lab doesn't even bother to write a line what happened and send an apology. We are paying about 200 US$ land tier per month, plus several premium tiers and hear nothing. When Activision/Blizzard wrecks something up, they give their customers a free day of playing when they pay 13 $ per month, we pay 200 $ and get not even a word.

Maybe the Lab has dropped Second Life and is all focused on Sansar now, but by ruining the reputation in such a way, you won't have much success with a new product.

That's a fair point. We work with product to see if we can tell more about the changes as they are really internal changes that have only visibility to us. Broadly speaking they are added features for our internal tools, or logging messages for the most part. For the ones that have references to any of the BUG jiras, we can say that the change is fixing those.

OK no mileage in pointing out that there has STILL not been any official comment on last week's Magnum SNAFU apart from a single line in one JIRA.

Last night my Main Server sim was restarted for a second time in 24 hours from 9746 to 20086, having been 20006 prior to the "official" restart and roll.  We are still on 17.09.01.508236, so there wasn't a software issue, but no explanation...and a few simple prims I had been working on earlier that day had re-appeared, despite my having tidied up after myself.

Now, as I understand it, it is not LL practice to put regions from different channels on the same server, so it wasn't a Magnum region being rolled back, but I have no idea WHAT the cause was, certainly neither I nor my partner requested or instigated it.  The region was running well and still is.

Any chance of a constructive reply from LL?

I see that there was a change of plan regarding LeTigre and Magnum, which are now staying on 508236, so will there be restarts there or not, this week? Come to think on it, you will have to be restarting Magnum sims  'cos that amounts to a roll back!  Not before time for some folk.
