How do i go about selling food from a food cart? would i make a profit?

Alas, you can't use your avatar or its attachments as a vendor. Of course people could pay you manually and you could send them their purchase, but if you want to use an automated vendor system, you need land to rez a prim that is configured to sell its contents (or alternatively a scripted vendor).

Many merchants rent a spot in a mall instead of owning land themselves. Another option is to list your items on the Marketplace. You will still need a place that allows you to rez your so-called Magic Box, which handles the inworld transfer of purchased items, but you'll only need to rez a single prim. There are places that rent out Magic Box spots for very little money.

PS: The Marketplace will soon switch to a direct delivery system which is currently being tested, so you probably don't need to rez anything inworld anymore as soon as this update goes live.

Ishtara is correct, you can give freebies from an attachment - in the same way you can take a drink from a waiters tray - but you can`t sell.

Would you make a profit?  Who knows?  Approach that question the same way you would if you were starting a small business in RL.  Total up all your one-time and recurring costs (materials, rental space, advertizing).Do your homework to see how comparable goods are priced, so that you understanbd your competition.  Study the traffic in the places you are considering for your cart, and look to see why people are coming to the area.  You'll have many unknowns as you try and answer your question, so don't be surprised if your sales projections are off.  Make adjustments and keep experimenting. Unlike RL, you can pick up and move to a new location, or change style, at the drop of a hat.  If things don't work out at first, keep trying.
