Skin Applier

Recommended Posts

As I said to another post I spent months to create mesh content for SL.

At the end of my work process I contacted Omega System but they haven't answered any of my messages so they are apparently high chances they don't want to create an applier for me.

I really don't know what I should do at this point.

I don't know if I should release my products without appliers in making a simple UUID applier?

Should I contact Skin Makers to ask them to make appliers for me?

Thanks in advance

You drop a number of vague hints, but you don't really go into details on what you actually did, expect for claiming that everyone and the world is responsible for your misery.
At least I don't think that you've been in the Omega Applier Support group inworld lately and asked for help on getting your mesh supported. Which is actually quite well explained on the bottom of the "Supported Meshes" list (in short, drop a mod-enabled copy of your heads to the creator, Chellynne Bailey) along with helpful hints for creators on protecting their work.

Plus, it seems to me that there might be a misunderstanding... the Omega crew does not provide you with any kind of textures for your meshes. The system is a "converter", like a program plugin or add-on. The texturing itself has to be done on your end.

In your other thread, you dropped a remark that mesh body creators did not bother to send you creators kits, so you could start making clothes for those bodies ... at least that's my interpretation of those few words.
Well, why should they? There are probably more scammers and con artists than honest people, if they don't have a reputation = an established brand in SL.

So perhaps besides getting in touch with a skin maker, a PR person wouldn't hurt as well, as I do have doubts that badmouthing one of the most helpful and well documented products is a good base for starting your own brand.

Thanks for your answer

I haven’t badmouthed if I did I am sorry it wasn’t my intention.

Making mesh for SL is a lot of work and getting stuck by this applier problem is making me more than nervous.

Since the beginning I was sure Omega System was providing a Ready-to-use script package for Mesh makers.

I didn’t know I should ask the Omega support group, thanks for the info.

I applied to join the Omega minion group few hours ago, maybe it will help.

I didn’t gave a lot of information about my project because in 20 years working in the media industrie I had a lot of my ideas stolen.

Everything you said is right regarding the brand and the PR

I haven’t been online for few years, pretty much all the people I knew here are not online anymore

I am not sure I can hire a good PR with my extra low budget

Some years ago it was easy to make content for SL, I probably have been stupid to get into this project

I will see later if Omega is getting back to me, they are maybe just on vacation

It should also be noted that if your head doesn't conform to the SL avatar -- well let's call them vertex points as I don't make mesh heads -- then the Omego system will not work for it.  That is explained well on the Omega Relay page and I just ran across it when looking into the system. I have an old Lelutka head and that didn't match up with what needs to happen for the relay to work. The NEW Lelutka heads will take Omega.

So if you didn't do that for your head then there is no reason at all to worry about Omega. Unless your head is the best thing ever to hit the grid, it is going to be difficult to get skin makers to make skins for JUST your head --- and I can't blame them in the least.

Also, since it seems like you didn't do your homework you need to make SURE that your head will work on the various bodies out there -- WITH NO SEAM.    So for gals that would be Maitreya, Belleza and SLink   For guys maybe Slink, Belleza, Signature?   If the heads won't fit all the bodies (Akerukas apparent'y don't fit the male bodies except Slink) then it is going to be difficult to sell them too.

Just letting you know in case you didn't. It is difficult to create in a world you are not a part of. We see that often here on the forums. Good luck.

My Meshes meets SL standards as well as any standard, that's the only reason why it took me 2 months to get these things done, trying to understand their tricky proprietary system with almost no documentation

OK so hopefully you also got things fitting well with the bodies as I added that info into my last reply.

You should note that folks DO TRY and help here. And your attitude (or the way it seems) isn't going to help you out.

Just saying.

Go for a walk; have a beer; meditate -- whatever.  You will never make it here if you can't fit in. That's a given.

Good luck.

You are completely right :)

But after thinking again about the fact Omega System have been originally scared by a request coming from an empty profile with no SL business.

I just don't understand why they don't answer something like:

"We need to see your mesh before or to have more information about your project."

The fact they don't answer at all is really frustrating and also unlawfully

In Europe at least, you cannot refuse your services to anyone except if he breaks your ToS

Hi Ted Burt!

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it looked like I was ignoring you, this is the first we've seen anything from you! I guess SL ate your messages.
Notecards REALLY are the way to do for communication, we also have a ticketing system on the blog.  :)

At any rate, I've sent you a reply inworld to your latest Message.

Why would you think Europe is relevant to SL?

You seem to have difficulty understanding reality.

Reality? What is that? Is it like Sansar?

>.> <.< I love me a good legal discussion, but let's remember to be kind to one another. :)

As for Mr. Burt, don't worry, I don't turn down meshes as long as they conform to our standards and don't violate anyone's TOSs or IP. :)

Are you a solicitor? Or have you been turned down as a client by one without proper reasoning? I guess not.

The link has nothing to do with general business and even less with a regulation applying to whole wide Europe. It does not even remotely say anything like "you have to do business with anyone at all cost".

Sounds like you are trying to make out with me, to my opinion

That only refers to UK lawyers, refusing legal services to people, and if you had actually READ it, there's a bloody long list of reasons why you CAN refuse service, and even then, all it states is that the Legal Ombudsman will accept complaints about it, nothing in there that says refusing to serve a would be customer is against the LAW.

Trading Standards legislation in the UK grants businesses the right to refuse service to people, for reasons of their own, providing those reasons don't viol;ate other legislation, for example racism, sexism etc.

In addition that's the UK, which isn't really much to do with Europe.

Yeah, all your previous statements already did suggest that you have a pretty wild imagination. Sadly, no ties to the facts of the real world, but well.

So, an empty MP store, a blank profile with a single line about sex, violence, religion, girls and boys (which, frankly makes me cringe) and you say it only took you two months to create a mesh head the conforms to all SL mesh and standard bodies... Uh huh.. Anybody else waiting for the offer of swampland for sale as well?

LOL

The text on my profile is from the Pet Shop Boys.

They only sold Billions of albums.

But I agree, compared to Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift or Ben Sheeran, they are kind of weird.

Regarding the fact it took me 2 months to make mesh heads for SL :

Any CG professional would do this type of job in a week so I don't see any problems.

Wait, I forget to tell you:

I do LSL scripting too, and I am currently making the HUD for my meshes

I also wrote my own Inventory Server vendor system.

Now if you think I am a liar:

Go in LA for example or in a big city

Try to meet people from DD Sony or anyone who work in feature film industry

And you will see what type of skills they have

But I doubt they will talk to you with such an attitude

But I doubt they will talk to you with such an attitude Probably a nicer one than you have had this whole thread...
