Where's the beef on viewer 2-6-3-226640 ?

So I can't find any tools with the lastest viewer and it doesn't even open on my older systems.

Check out my desktop view and tell me where I can find inventory, edit objects, so on...

Logout, on the login screen you'll see a dropdown, yours is set to basic, changed it to advanced and voila.

It appears that you are in "Basic" mode rather than "Advanced" mode.  There is more information on the Basic vs.. Advanced modes in the new viewer 2 releases here:  http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Basic-mode-FAQ/ta-p/733541

An excerpt from that page on how to change between the two modes:

How do I switch between Basic mode and Advanced mode?

You can select Basic or Advanced mode from the login screen:

1. If you're currently logged in, close the Second Life Viewer to log out.
2. Open the Second Life Viewer.
3. Select Basic or Advanced from the Mode dropdown.
4. Click Quit.
5. Open the Second Life Viewer again. The Mode now shows your selection.
6. Log in with your username and password.
