Triska Darkstone
Hi, I haven't been on SL for a few years and when I wear outfits my shoe base doesn't work anymore. This is happening with a few shoes. I have ugly feet! Can you help? Thanks
1 Syo Emerald
I have to guess a little, but since you say you have been offline for quite a few years, you might have left when using invisiprims in shoes was still a common practice. This special type of prim was build into shoes to hide the standart avatars feed and prevent it from sticking out. A shoe base was just a slight help to archieve that (its more important job is to have your shoe at the right hight and such). But invisiprims relied on a mechanic that was considered a bug by Linden Lab. Years ago, Linden Lab updated the viewer, which broke invisiprims as soon as anyone got their graphic settings higher than the lowest settings. All newer shoes from the last 4 years or so don't use invisiprims anymore. Instead we have alpha layers (appears as a grey shirt symbol in the inventory) that hide parts of the standart body. You could try to get a fitting alpha layer to make your shoes/feet look normal again...but if you have been away for such a long time, getting some new shoes might be easier and give you the benefit of (probably) having some better made shoes. Anyway...I wish you good luck. If I'm correct and you have been away for this long, prepare for a headache once you try to figure out all the other changes at once. 0 Lindal Kidd
Syo is right...your shoe base DOES still work. Your problem isn't the shoe base, it's the method you use to hide your avatar's feet. Invisiprims, the method used by older shoes, doesn't work any more. You'll need an alpha mask. Newer shoes come with an alpha mask object. There are sets of alpha masks to hide feet that can be used with older shoes, available on the Marketplace. However, these masks may not be a good fit for a particular shoe. You'll just have to try them on one at a time and see if there's one that hides just the "right amount" of the foot.
