New Salem City

Resting on the banks of Lake St. Clair, Michigan, there stands an old, worn-down domain of iron and wood, of stone and steel, of shrouded evils and eldritch horrors all intertwined in a spiders web of mystery and conspiracy. It has existed for nearly two hundred years, founded by an ancient order of immortal and inhuman monsters with the goal of creating a kingdom for their dreadful kind. It was built by mortal slaves tricked through politics and Blood Magic to forge it as a seat of Supernatural existence, built to accommodate this purpose from the very bones of its infrastructure up through the earth towards its wretched skyline.

Finally, a World of Darkness sim has made its debut in SL. World of Darkness: Final Nights is a fully immersive sim where you can live out your every dark dream.

In RL, the Classic "World of Darkness" is a game with a series of distinct--yet interwoven--fictional universes created as the setting for the supernatural horror-themed tabletop role-playing games. Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Changeling: The Dreaming and many others. It is a dark reflection of our mundane world - a black shadow where humanity is not the master of the earth or its fate. Throughout all of known history, supernatural forces have manipulated mankind from the dark, treating Mortals as pawns in eternal conflicts too intricate and horrible to describe. A place of seductive black, of violent mysteries and ancient evils awaiting around every corner, the World of Darkness is treacherous for every last inhabitant that dares call it home. It was first conceived by Mark Rein-Hagen, who later founded White Wolf Gaming Studio which would be responsible for further games which would continue to build upon the setting.
As a beloved fan project, World of Darkness: Final Nights is a Text-Based Roleplaying Simulation in Second Life inspired by the Classic World of Darkness universe, taking cues from the groundbreaking Storyteller system in the creation of our own unified and simplified ruleset. Although many elements found here have some connection to this universe,  this game is its own entity.  And while much of the lore crosses over into this sim-based roleplay, only that which is outlined on this website will be recognized by our storytellers - we are not a 1:1.
Using the official White Wolf fan affiliation program known as Dark Pack, we have taken efforts to keep WoD:FN as legitimate as possible. This allows us to use elements of the Classic World of Darkness as inspiration for our sim and site. However, WoD:FN, while using the World of Darkness moniker, is –not- an official White Wolf product. Any sim rentals are collected strictly on a nonprofit basis by the land owner to maintain that separate portion of digital space, and such sums are not in anyway affiliated with nor to be used to generate content based on the White Wolf IP.
Portions of the materials are the copyrights and trademarks of White Wolf Publishing AB, and are used with permission. All rights reserved. For more information please visit white-wolf.com.

For those who have not played tabletop, or have not been introduced to the "World of Darkness" game, New Salem City is still a place that you can create a character, rent an apartment, and write your very own storyline. We have created our very own hud and dice system that is easy to learn and understand, as well as having a web page that will answer any questions you might have about each race and faction. STs and Mentors are on hand via group chat, as well for any new questions.

As a human, you have the choice to be "imbued', mortals who have witnessed the supernatural are given the choice to keep their knowledge of the existence of the supernatural and are given a selection of powers to help them cope with the knowledge and fight (or help) those supernaturals that they encounter. OR, the human can choose to forget all of that they saw and live in the city as helpless "bystanders"-- humans who are ignorant of the races that surround them in the city.

As a Supernatural entity, You will live under the code of the Masquerade, that is to say, that you will hide your true form from the eyes of the mortals and live among them, feeding and using them, if you can - without getting caught.

So what are you waiting for? The world is ending... and it is going to be fantastic.
