How can I change my avatar

I was in sl few years ago, it was fun I had friends then... I stopt. Now I am back and my friend list is empty and people are not the same.  As soon as they see me they leave.

I understood that my avatar was not ok for them. But they did not say me what was wrong and how to change it. That is why I am coming here. Yes I am a newbie with an old avatar.

When I ask that question people don't answer. They say fix your avatar. So Now I hope you understand me. I was never good at shoping. And when I go to shoping, it take so long to show something. English is not my language. and SL language either.

 

Now I am lonely and I am not able to make friends because of that. What is the best fix my avatar or create a new one ?

Wow, poeple are  truly shallow. I cant deny i like how mesh looks but its not a deciding factor for friendships. Some of the nicest looking avatars are rotten inside.

I'm stunned that people actually make it about your avatar looks. Heck, I only recently upgraded my avatar.

First thing I would do is try to find some new places to hang out - places that don't have such a**holes around that would judge you like that.

Before upgrading your avatar, go to this website to read about the new Mesh avatars. It will be a bit of a pain, because you'll have to translate it.   http://meshbodyaddicts.com/mesh-body-tutorials/  There are other good sections on that blog, but the Tutorials is a good place to start.

You may not have to go the full mesh body route right away.  With a good skin, perhaps some mesh hands and good outfits (there still are mesh clothes still available that will work on classic avis), perhaps updated hair, you can put together a nice looking avi.  

I would second the suggestion to find other places to hang out, as well.  I'm surprised that some are so judgmental just on looks.

Yes maybe it was not the right friends. I know but she was not totaly wrong my avatar need improvement and I am alone to try to do it. It is something I am not good at. First because I understand that I need to go shoping and I hate shopping. I tryed I get lost. I search search search spend lot of time and I have nothing.

Visit the Free Dove in SL - you can easily find it via Search.  You can get free 'good' shapes, skins, hair and mesh clothing there.  It is a good start for trying new things before spending money on stuff.  If you do decide to buy some mesh clothing/shoes/hair, definitely Demo it first because not everything will fit every avatar correctly.

Side note on the above -- probably 75% of my wardrobe is free or super cheap / sale items.

I couldn't give a flying fig if someone is meshed or not meshed.  My partner isn't (he is not allowed to be yet, I don't have the patience ) 

There are lots of places for help if YOU do want to get a mesh body and everyone will tell you the same thing - Demo demo demo.

Read about the different bodies and check out a demo of those you are interested in,   There is a tutorial section to help you wearing bodies, clothes, hands, feet skin appliers. 

If you are on a budget then Littleme's post above is the way to go with lots of places offering free stuff to get you started

Also, if you don't like shopping, don't feel like you have to update everything all at once.   You can start with just hair or an outfit or two on one shopping trip, and then on another day tackle another item.    

When (and if) you get to the point of looking at male mesh bodies, you will want to spend some time on that, and be sure to try out the demos for the different bodies and styles.

First I need to find out cloth or skin or I don't know that is the hardest part because My inventory is full but not with the right things probably.

Did you ever try Marketplace? Because maybe it's faster if you are laggy. Try some demo's before buying anything.

Perhaps to shed a little light on the "update your avatar" remark:Judging by the pic on your inworld profile, your current look consists of some of the oldest freebies you can possibly get your hands on. Starting with that texture only "business suit", on to ripped freebie skin which graphical artifacts can even be seen on the small profile pic, flat black prim hair and probably still the very basic an dull brown eyes from the Library.

The combination of a several years old avatar and wearing nothing but the cheapest and most dated items can easily trigger someone's inner alarm. Does the owner of that account have any serious interest in SL? Is it perhaps some kind of "throwaway" account with shady business? Why should anyone bother to spend time with them if they don't even seem to spend some time on their own look?

Why such thoughts? Because there is huge number of avatars who exactly fit into such a profile.

Call it shallow or not. But SL is a visual medium and even though it's harsh to say, it has to be said: even LL's current starter avatars are looking way more polished than your dated look.

But you certainly don't need an all mesh appearance. Just pick up a good base and a standard wardrobe for your activities. Nice shoes, well fitting jeans and a shirt can look amazing on their own.

Maybe just don't go all freebie stuff, but be willing to spend a little cash on your virtual self. For example, if you invest L$100, you can join the "7 Deadly s[k]ins" inworld group and visit the mainstore each day to pick up a gift from the "Harvest Tree". Those gifts include skins and shapes and appliers for female and male characters, some classic stuff, some mesh related. That offer runs till the end of August.

Just do make an effort and spend some thought and care into your appearence. Also, learn how to use outfits for quick clothing changes to change from your streetwear to a beach outfit.

That bit of effort will show.

I don't mean to pile it on, but you really need to update your profile description too, as people often look at that to get a first impression of your personality. When they see you saying that you are lonely, terrible, sad, something wrong with you, they will just run away. We expect our friends to be happy and interesting, not an emotional burden. Just like in real life. If you can't think of something interesting/funny to say, maybe just give the basic facts about what your interests are. Keep it positive.
