How do you log in robots / alts without running a full version of the viewer?

I would like to login a few alts I have to hang out in my region doing stuff or just sitting around. Can anyone recommend a good low-lag and low-ressources viewer? Preferably one that works on Linux.

The ideal thing would of course be to be able to log them in through a website :)
