Managing SL Mailing Lists

We are looking for a way in SL for people to add themselves and remove themselves from mailing lists with a URL, rather than having to go into the store and click an unsubscribe thing.

Sort of like what Mailchimp in RL does. I was thinking of actually even just using that, but then, if people give their current display names, that might not be their name next month...... so for SL still need to capture their real system names.

We have people who subscribed and later complain that they have to TP to the store to click the unsubscriber. (We provide a direct link to it at the top of every notecard mailed.)

The other downside about the unsubscribers (the ones I know about anyway) is that they don't actually remove people from the mailing list: they just tell you to do it, so you still have to do it. It's not automatic.

We do maybe 6 to 8 mailings a year.

Are there services in SL that imitate Mailchimp sorta?
 

Or am I over thinking this, and a plain old-fashioned group (to which invite and leave links can be sent) is the way to go?

I think you're just better off utilizing a group for communications. Going that route would give someone the option to opt out from receiving group notices conveniently. In addition to that, you still have other outlets to support any messaging.
