SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER!!!!

We were fairly warm (for March) the last couple of days (roughly 50 F / 10 C), but we are due for some snow today, 1-3 inches possible.  It is supposed to jump right back to warm days afterwards and be up to 62 F / 16-17 C on Sunday.

Given that March is usually our snowiest month, I know that despite that warm-up, we are definitely not out of the winter-woods yet.

Look who I found on my (RL) walk to the beach this morning...

Contemplating spring

Getting a really lucky shot.  I was taking pictures of something else and playing with the windlights, then cammed out and around a bit to check angles and just happened to catch this in my view.

I'm eating strawberries.. hehehe

Last month one of the guys from production was doing this thing for charity selling strawberries..

I decided to get a whole hat, which is 8 containers or a whole rack..

They came in last night and I waited until this morning to get mine.

Omg, some of these strawberries are the size of apples.. They are so good that I'm gonna have to make myself quit eating them..

It's hard though, because they are so good..

The boys are gonna wear these out.. hehehe

So, @manoji Yachvilihas a new exhibit!  This one is quite modest in scope and size, but really interesting. Entitled "Change of Life," she's put it together partially in recognition of International Women's Day on Monday. It is intensely personal and, in some respects, a bit squirmy. It probably speaks more to women than to men, but I am positive anyone who goes will be glad they did.

Recently I bought a horse. I have been thinking about it for a long, long time and finally I did it. It's a bit like new world has opened to explore places. What a great fun it is with horse which can go anywhere. 🙂 🐴

And in other news . . . tomorrow is International Women's Day, so I've spent some time over the last week creating freebie tee shirts for each of two of my groups, "Stop Violence against Women" and the  "SLLU Feminist Network." Today I sent them out to the groups.

This is the one I'm happiest with. It ain't Addamberry, but at least it gets the point across.

I am busy stalking Flickr and the Skin Fair. I am planning to pick up an insane number of demos, try on every single one and then not buy anything because I already love what I already have . . . maybe . . . I do not know until I try on everything there!

Today a new exhibition at the Kultivate Galleries opened, and one of the featured artists is @Saskia Rieko. Saskia is one of my favourite photographers, and I've learned a ton (and stolen a few ideas) from her.

Hopefully in this pic I've given you just enough of a glimpse why I like her stuff so much, to convince you to drop by and check out her pics.

Mina is planting some crops. Quite a lot of crops, actually. Plenty of break time needed in the garden.

Like everyone else, I was at Manoji's exhibit today! And last night as well, actually! I'm sorry I missed @Horus Salubrius and @Zzevir there!

It's really compelling -- stark and stripped-down and more than a little disturbing, because it's a take on environmental destruction and mining that employs her RL pics of the terrible damage being inflicted upon her part of Italy. Some of the images feature near-faceless figures of miners who become slightly sinister representations of the Anthropocene and the damage we are all inflicting on the place we live. At the same time, there is a kind of weird beauty to the photos of plundered rock faces . . .

Definitely worth a visit.

Watching Heartland, reading a book about the Gloriavale community in New Zealand and planning to go looking for a nice river in world later. Might do a bit of shopping and take a scenic train ride while I'm at it. I am wanting to find a new pair of velvet heels.
