arton Rotaru 1,048
There are several ways of modeling straps. You could do them on the character in a retopo style with polygons, or snaping curves on the surface., which will be converted to polygons. However, I like to model straps straight on the grid, with all it's details. Then creating a plane, which is subdivided quite a bit, of the same size just below the strap. SkinWrap the strap to the plane, and add a free form deformation modifier to the plane, and move it to it's final shape using just the FFD control points. I know, SkinWrap and Free Form Deformation are 3ds Max terms. In Maya it would be the Wrap Deformer, and the Lattice Deformer I guess.
