Phil Deakins
A mullet is a hairstyle - short on top and sides, long down the back. Pop stars used to wear them back in the 80s.

In french a mulet is : So when its about André Rieu, it gives weird meaning in my mind Mulet works for me as well, though I use an American colloquialism rather than the more formal "mule". ;-). Trinity Yazimoto
ah yes; The hair cut is more André Rieu indeed... but then it's less fun lol....
Phil Deakins
André Rieu's hair is simply long, that's all - like his hero, Johann Strauss - and it's over his ears, so it's not a mullet. The writer of the article that Maddy linked to wrote the article to be as negative as possible, wherever he could, and he used the word 'mullet' as part of that negativity. Maddy was mistaken. Here's a positive article, making the same claim... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-2852212/Andre-Rieu-sold-records-afford-castle.html I'd buy the argument that an apple that looks like a pear is still an apple, but I think it's okay to say that a hairstyle that looks like a mullet is a mullet. And, even if his hair isn't really a mullet, I still find it dreadful. I was going to recommend dreadlocks, but I like those better on people who've braided some history into them. Phil Deakins
Naaa. It's not a mullet It's better to use your eyes than simply go by what someone wrote. Maybe the guy who wrote the 2nd article took it from the first Actually, I don't think his hair is dreadful at all. He is huge fan of Johann Strauss (and I am of long hair), and they had long hair back then. Edited May 13, 2017 by Phil Deakins

Clearly a lot of people see and hear something different. It's a very good thing I'm not the world's arbiter of taste. I liked the Irish Times review, not because it was accurate, nor because I agreed with it. It was just fun to read. Phil Deakins
That's a mullet yes. Short on the top and sides, and long at the back. André Rieu's hair doesn't even slightly resemble that. He just has long hair, that's all.

arton Rotaru
Almost 20 years ago, I was very good at impersonating Rieus yearning face, playing an imaginary violin. It was a safe bet to make my partner laugh everytime.

But it's something I do only for very special, limited audiences, like a life partner. But to give an idea of what I'm talking about, this is one, but by far not the best (couldn't find any better right now) of Rieus yearning faces.
