SO a kind of interesting thing happened, yesterday in this thread i posted a picture of my avi standing in a field with flowers wearing a long white dress. I took several pictures in the field, some with the dress some without. I posted a couple dress pictures to the Flickr page for the sim, but did not post any of the dress lacking pictures, because the group rules said nudity was not allowed. A few hours after i posted, in my Flickr notifications I get a notice that the Admin for the group had changed the rules, And he sent me an invite to include this picture.

I assumed you were making a funny because of the shirt. If not, I expect several people in the thread would enjoy meeting you in SL. Send those you would like to meet an IM.

I doubt there has been a rule change as Billy said. But, how we think of nude and how the Lab's people think of nude is probably a little different. Which a moderator may have clarified. And there are nudes posted through this thread from the beginning. But bare nipples and the frontal pubic area seems aren't tolerated. Which may be why so many of us save our nudes and kink for Flickr.

I was playing with lighting. I think to get the shadows correct I would need to do way more Photoshop work.

I think LL is trying exclude pornographic imagery, and not tasteful nudity. The frescoes in the Sistine chapel are full of nudity,  but they are not considered pornographic

No, the moderators have been pretty clear in the past - doesn't matter if you've shot it in high-contrast B&W with artistic lighting; if there be nipples, side-boobage, too much butt (don't know how much is 'too much' though), genitalia, heavy petting, etc, it's a no-no.

I hardly think nude virtual selfies can be compared to renaissance frescoes.

Yes. You are correct.

They have never allowed the genitals to be shown or female nipples.

Bare derrieres have been allowed in many pictures, but a few showing them have also been removed, so I'm not totally sure of their rules on that.

They have also allowed various other pictures where none of the offending bits are being shown, but it is obvious the person is not clothed.

ETA:  Posted before reading all subsequent posts -- It is pretty much what Orwar said.
