You don't need to buy another skin.  What Lil means is, 1) find the skin that you've been using in your inventory.  It's probably in the Body Parts folder.  2) Right click the skin item in your inventory and select Wear.  It should replace the "white body suit."

If it does not, then the "body suit" may be on the Tattoo layer, or possibly on one of the other clothing layers.

There are a couple of ways to check to see what you're wearing.  One is to look in your Inventory.  If you use the Firestorm viewer, there's a special tab called "Worn" that will show everything you have on.  In the stock LL viewer, you can type (Worn  (yes, with a left parenthesis) in the inventory search window to show only the things you're wearing, or look for the folder "Current Outfit".  You can also right click your avatar and select Appearance/Edit Outfit and get a list of the things that make up your current appearance.  Note that there are separate tabs for attachments and for layers.

Another possibility is that you are wearing a complete Mesh body attachment, and it hasn't been textured with a skin texture.  This would give the appearance of a "white body suit" too.  Maybe you are wearing a demo mesh body you picked up somewhere?  Detach it, and also take off the alpha mask item that goes with it, to reveal your regular body.

In the Linden viewer in the Appearance/Outfits panel is a Worn tab. Everything your avatar is wearing is listed. If you can't find the white item to take off, then the other answers are likely correct, it is likely skin.

You can always click Developer (top menu item - press Ctrl-Alt-Q if not showing)->Avatar->Character Tests->Male/Female Test Avatar. Then rebuild your avatar item by item until you find your problem white item.
