Think Tank topic:

How do we avoid the trap of denying identity / civil rights and wrongly blaming economics for social injustice?

When:
38% of America's white population believe non-whites are less evolved
the median income of a Trump voter was $72,000,
The first policy of a new president was to attempt a muslim ban
Brexit campaigners used images comparing muslim refuges with anti 'black panic' messages of a generation prior.
DAPL was re-routed from a white community through "sovereign" Native land without consent.
Native Americans and Blacks are vastly more likely to be killed by police than any other demographics.
Laws restricting the reproductive rights of women are rapidly working their way through the states of the USA.
Laws are restricting bathroom access to people based on what/who they are.
Laws are trying to give peolpe the right to discriminate based on "religion" (generally in defiance of the teachings of faith founders).

When we are facing an onslaught of attacks against civil rights around the world, in all forms...

1. Why do we keep turning to economics to try and explain it?
2. Why do we let some use economics as an excuse to avoid addressing or even admitting the existence of hate?
3. How do we get back on target and protect civil rights, without letting the 'right wing' weaken our protections by the slander of so-called 'identity politics'?

May 23rd Progressive Think Tank: How will the loss of Net Neutrality impact us?

With the loss of Net Neutrality in the USA, how will this impact the internet both within the USA and abroad? Will outside forces limit the harm, or offer little shelter? Is this a 'doomsday event' for the internet or just a 'very bad thing'?
