What is the downside of leaving it on?

The downside is suddenly being blinded by someone walking in with a face light as bright as the sun. Although, those occasions seem to get less frequent, since mesh heads became more popular.

Yeah, a lot of people just use them for photos, too.

It's still got a few days, til the 24th I think. bepsl.com has a list of participating stores with hunt hints. I kept almost everything, which is rare nowadays. There's also lots of great deals to be had that are showcased at the front of the stores so you can't miss them. I'm not a big jewelry wearer in SL or RL but I had to get the bento rings at Ama that match their hunt prize which is exactly like a necklace do own in RL!

I missed the hunt, Lil.  Could you give us a list of the new stores you liked?  I feel the Need to Shop.

Yeah, what Clover said.  The url directly to the store list is http://bepsl.com/st-patricks-day-hunt/.  It runs until either this coming Fri or Sat - the web page does not say, but I'm pretty sure the dates are noted on the sign in the stores.

The store list is kind of long and the hunt item is a bit hard to find in a few places, but many of the prizes are really nice.  There is the occasional 'shamrock mug' and stuff like that, but not quite as much as you get in the normal themed hunts.  Since the store list is a bit long, the first thing I did at each place was just cam around a bit to see if I even liked anything in the store.  If not, I didn't bother trying to find the pot of gold.

I was really amazed though at the number of stores that I'd never heard of before.  Granted, I don't go to a lot of the big events very often, and when I do I still don't pay attention to store names unless I actually see something that I want.  So that combined with the fact that many of these stores aren't involved in most hunts is probably why I've not heard of some of these stores.

The Finders, Keepers, St. Pat's Day hunt was awesome.  There were tons of stores that don't usually participate in hunts and thus I discovered all sorts of new places to spend L$.

Here comes the Newbie-Burden: what is a hunt?

I shall look it up myself.

Hunts are where you get a list of locations and you pop to each one and look for a hidden object, usually with a clue given to help you.  Sometimes the objects are really easy to find and sometimes not.  Sometimes you get pretty nice things in the hunt and sometimes you get misc trinkets.  Most of them run for roughly a month, but lengths do vary.  They'll typically involve anywhere from a single store to 100 or so stores across the grid.

A few places to find listings of most of the hunts is  https://huntsl.com/    https://slhunts.wordpress.com/  and http://seraphimsl.com/category/recurring-events/weekly/weekly-hunt-survival-guide/

Thank you for the links!

I did my first hunt yesterday, it was really fun.

I met nice people while getting gifts, a win/win/win situation.

The laugh reaction was to this ^^

I'm bored in my class - on lunch break right now.  Still roughly 2 hours of boredom left when I go back in about 10 min.  Thank goodness we have internet connectivity in that room and that work gives me a laptop that I can take to class.

I have spent the last 2 freakin days installing and uninstalling the same f***n piece of software (as prerequisite to another install), specifying different options each time, only to find out today that the reason it does not work is because the documentation is not detailed enough and I was supposed to be installing a different piece of software as my prerequisite.
