When we have a free avatar, we can only have 42 groups. And when Premium, we can have 60. Then came a doubt. If I have participated in 60 groups and my premium term expires and I do not pay more. Will I be ejected from some groups automatically up to 42, or do I get 60 even if I do not pay premium anymore?

you shouldn't but why would you want to be in so many groups??

According to the Wiki article on Limits, you keep your existing groups even if you give up your Premium membership, but you can't join any new groups until you've reduced the existing number down to 41 (42, minus the space for the new group you want to join).

As far as I know, when your premium expires, you will retain the 60 groups but will be unable to join any new groups until you are in 41 groups or less.

These days just about every store has a vip group, possibly with some bonus, like discounts, group gifts, store credit, etc, also possibly with a joining fee, if you payed 750 to join the Alice project Group, you don't want to have to leave and rejoin.

 

There are also shopping groups like SL Free & Offers, or Thirdlife, etc., which news on hot deals, mania boards etc, you dont want to leave those either, and then theres your land groups, rp sim groups, viewer tech support, opencollar blather, etc., etc., etc.,

 

It's real easy to hit 42 groups now.

I constantly consider Premium for the groups alone! I'm always having to delete free groups. My inner dialog goes something like this:

"So I paid for this group but have they put out a gift for awhile? Hmm not really... but what if they do? Ok so keep that one. Oh a free group, I can delete that and just rejoin later or something... but what if i miss something...."

Its the only trouble my sl has.
