Why is there a music stream playing on my Linden Premium land now?  It interferes with any media I play in my house.  Looking at gov linden land outside house there is no url in media.  The music is playing inside my house.  It didnt use to be this way.  If I use my own media inside house, then there are two streams playing.  Viewing my parcel the media window is blank. Can't shut off this default music stream which is same stream if I walk about the housing development.  I don't want to hear it inside.h

when did this start, i log in sporadically?

And why does it say "newbie" under my name?

Newbie in the forums means you haven't posted much -- at least that is my assumption (new forums).

The most logical reason for your media stream problem is that a neighbor has some stream (or radio or other sound file) going and doesn't have "limit to this parcel" or whatever that choice is checked. If it is an OBJECT that is streaming the sound you may be able to find it by camming into your neighbors and following the sound level to find the "object" that is the culprit and then derendering and blacklisting or blocking (I haven't had to do this in a few years so not sure which works -- it used to be blocking).

The issue on mainland has always been there. Not new. It would "seem" that The Lab would have the "limit sounds to this parcel" thing as a permanent non-changeable feature, but maybe not. You can check that in the land tab. That will answer the media stream question.

Good luck.

That had occured to me, hard to believe another resident would inflict the entire Linden development with their own background music.   I don't see how they would be able to do it unless it was an exploit.  I could go after the object and see if I can find it.  Maybe the advanced control panel has some way of tellng.  The Linden Media window is all grey out.

thanks for your reply.  You are probably right.

It's not an exploit, it's a feature! Ummm... or påossibly a bug but Linden Lab calls it a feature.

A Media-On-A-Prim player can transmit sound for mroe than 100 m around, across parcel borders and across sim borders. The solution is to switch media autoplay off in your preferences. Firestorm has it off by default but Linden Lab is so much in lvoe with that bodged MoP update job they did, they flatly refuse to see the problem so the official viewer has it on by default.

That's so interesting. I've been using Firestorm for almost my entire time and I wondered why I hadn't run into this problem. I did however learn something from this thread. It made me investigate an aggravating sound near my home. Turns out it was a campfire someone put outside theirs. I muted it and now my life is much better.

Haha, I get what seems to be the same problem! O.o

A month or two ago, I would often hear a particular 1980s song from the Housemartins playing, then it stopped. Now in the last few days, I get "No Good" by the Prodigy playing regularly. Usually there would be no neighbours around when it happens. I Just turn down the volume on my speakers when it happens, but it would be good to find a proper solution.

I have the same problem. How do I find the media that's playing so I can block it? Turning off media is not a solution if I want to watch my own video. In my preferences I set the media rolloff distance to 30 m and I can still hear it. In fact, I had to turn it down to 10m to get rid of the noise.
