I'm not sure how to use the new forums the way I used to use the old ones. For instance, I can't figure out how to: 1) edit a post (after it is already posted); 2) delete a post or a thread; 3) add a signature.  There may be other things as well, but those are the first that come to mind. If anyone can help with some tips, it would be much appreciated!

huh.  I wonder if there is an edit limit ...

Oh well, here is the pic I wanted to add.

Only the edit button is no longer there for me.

Also ... to get to the profile and setting ...

I still find the edit post behavior strange ...

Thanks Rhonda :)  Yes, that's what happens to me too - the edit button is there immediately following a post, but after that it disappears, so if you want to correct something 5 minutes later, it's not possible.

As for adding signatures, I looked at that area before posting this thread, but couldn't find it. I'll look again.

There appears to be either an edit count (unlikely) or time (likely) limit. I'm unable to edit any of my posts from yesterday. I'm gonna try to edit the hell out of this post right now.

ETA: Edit #1

ETA: Edit #2

ETA: Edit #3

ETA: Edit #4

ETA: Edit #5

ETA: Edit #6

ETA: That's a total of seven edits (typical of posts I make after waking in the morning ;-).  I'll come back in a few hours and see if this is still editable, I expect I won't be. This is typical of behavior I've experienced on other forums. One of them shows a clock on your posts, indicating how much time remains for you to edit.

Rhonda, I just found the signature setting. Thank you! Now if I only knew how to reply to your post and not just the most recent one.

Clicking the "Quote" button under a post is as close to replying as you will get in this new forum. The nice thing is it does notify the person that you did it.

There is no way to reply to a specific post, which I think is a major omission. What you can do it quote the post your replying to so that everyone can see who you're addressing.

The ability to edit a post has a severe time limit. It's a norm in forums to limit how long the edit ability is left open, and there are very good reasons for it, but I've never seen one as short as this one is. To be perfectly honest, it's ridiculous.

The forums I haunt that have edit time limits have them at four hours. I agree that five minutes is far too short.

I also dislike the inability to reply to a specific post, and to get the "tree" view of a thread. I also miss the overarching post view that doesn't require delving into each sub forum to see what's going on.
