Drongle McMahon 592
From my first glance at my own posts in the Mesh Forum, it appears that all pictures have disappeared. That renders most of the more useful posts in that forum completely useless. Anyone know if this is a permanent situation? I see there's an insert "image from url" at the bottom, but apparently no direct upload option, and nothing exists in in the "existing attachments".
Pamela Galli 5,782
Amen. I depend on the pictures in the mesh tutorials that Dongle and others so generously provide in the absence of any documentation from LL.
Perrie Juran 195
No pictures is an ultra major shortcoming. I see an option to "Insert Other Media/Insert image from URL" but I have not been able to get it to work. Pictures are a major must for asking and answering questions, etc.

Rolig Loon 26,654
I agree that the lack of photos is a severe limitation. I had a uploaded collection of diagrams over the years that were very helpful for answering resident questions. If there's no way to reach that archive or to build a new one, this is going to make life harder.
Marianne McCann 464
From https://community.secondlife.com/blogs/entry/2127-welcome-to-our-new-community-platform/ Some posts may have missing images. Where possible, we will be fixing and/or updating these.
Pamela Galli 5,782
I assumed that meant pictures were missing from past posts. Does anyone see my signature banner?

Henry Hutchence 0
I tried variations of URLs from Photobucket, nothing will work to upload into the post.

Perrie Juran 195
I tried several variations from tinypic.com with no success. Using Firefox.
Perrie Juran 195
Playing around here with this.... So we can "link" photos from other websites. Actually that is a sucky thing if we don't own the website and what will happen when someone has their website coded to replace the picture with some choice porn?
Perrie Juran 195
test Doing some testing here for image hosting. So far have not been able to insert pictures from Tinypic or Photobucket. But Imgur appears to work if you choose the "direct link" URL.
Dante Tucker 54
Tinypic does work. Make sure you use the direct link to the image. On the "Share This Image" page that would be the box labeled "Direct Link for Layouts". Generally you will be able to recognize what will work by the look of the link. For example "http://tinypic.com/r/11b2ky8/9" will not work. However "http://i66.tinypic.com/11b2ky8.png" will. You can notice that the latter has a file extension ".png" while the first one does not.

Dante Tucker 54
One more tip. Generally, anywhere you see an image on a webpage you can right click on it and choose "Copy Image Address" (text varies between browsers). This should in almost all cases produce a link you can use to post on this forum.

You need to look more closely Drongle *https://content.invisioncic.com/Mseclife/image_extract/169928iDFFA72B9FE0F80EC.jpg It seems the older the post the more chance images will still be intact. I expect its just a matter of time untill they sort out a similar system as before where images can be uploaded directly from hardrive. I hope there will be the option to search through pages of past images that had been used in ealier threads. I found that very usefull in the old forums to find older posts again that I wanted to link to. Just to note: looking through some of my previous posts I found an error in one where the image that was being used in my post was not the image I had originally used. Not one of my images at all If someone is missing "pink shoes" image from their post let me know and I will tell you where you can find it A spell checker would be nice .............. Drongle McMahon 592
"You need to look more closely Drongle" Oh well, there's hope then. Still, I'm not going to be happy until we can upload images to the forum's own archive. I don't want to have to starty using third party sites. The accumulated images we have posted, especially you, Aquila, comprise a valuable store of guidance that needs to be kep together with the accompanying texts. I also agree with your wish to be able to peruse my own images - that's by far the most effective method I found for locating and linking to old posts. I haven't used a quote here because it's far to large and intrusive. Also, I couldn't delete part of it. I miss the edit-as-html too.

Amethyst Jetaime 1,579
Unfortunately some of the pictures I used for illustrations to help people are no longer available for me to upload anywhere as I had made and saved them on a computer that died a tragic death. The loss of our individual picture library means a lot of helpful work lost which I am not going to have the time to reproduce. That means a lot of questions will go unanswered by me. LL should have warned us about this so we could grab them off our libraries if we needed to. Is there anyway these could be restored somehow?
