ClancyCorbett Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 hi allhave a question if i find a texture free on the internet lets say of disney charaters and up load it to use as wallpaper on a house i am going to sell in sl is that allowed? or does infringe copywright?cheers and thanks
Rolig Loon Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Almost certainly not. Especially not if it's a Disney image. They have a reputation for being very hard on people who rip off their work. You will find that almost any image that you discover "free" on the Internet has been ripped off by someone, so the only way to be truly sure that you cannot be accused of violating someone's intellectual property rights is to make your own textures. If you are planning to sell something in SL, be very careful about including components that you do not have rights to. Linden Lab will respond appropriately to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”). Marcus Hancroft Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Rolig is right, Clancy. You may not use any copyrighted image (logo, character, etc.) in any of your uploaded textures. She is also right that Disney is one of the most strict companies with their images, and you will get a DMCA from them faster than you can say "Jack Robinson." Make your own textures.
