It's impossible to answer without any more information than that.  The best we can do is point you to a selection of possible answers >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/login_fail

Perhaps if you told us exactly what the error message says, we could do better.  Or tell us some details about your machine and how you are connected to the Internet.  If you want to provide extra information or need to clarify your question, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do not start a new thread. Doing that makes it hard for us to see what other people have already suggested, and it pushes other residents' questions off the page.

One common error is that you are trying to get in via your web browser, possibly by clicking on a location SLURL.  It's possible to log in to Second Life like this, but it's an advanced technique and you have to set up your web browser to trigger your viewer software.

Here's the more straightforward way:

1.  Download and install a copy of the viewer software.  Use the little link at the very bottom of this page, "Download Second Life".

2.  Open the viewer, and log in using the user name and password you created when you registered.  You'll have to scroll down and accept the Second Life Terms of Service.

3.  In a few moments, you will find yourself looking at the back of a person...that's your avatar, and the world you see before you is Second Life...specifically, "Learning Island", the first place that new avatars go to.
