How hard would it be for LL to put a waiting period for someone to visit a sim? For example, a psychopathic-no life having- socially awkward pos that comes to, oh, for example, Help Island and crashes eveyrones viewers every five minutes to the point of no one can go there anymore gets banned only to create another account and do the same thing over and over, while LL's answer is to occasionally send a Linden there for 20 minutes and uselessly ban this person...how hard would it be to implement a 7 day age policy to go there? Let's say the psychopathic- no life having- socially awkward pos comes to Help Island every day and night with a new avatar that is 0 days old and crashes veiwers every five minutes because "perma-banned" is just a word, how hard would it be for LL to actually to something about it? To put it another way, how hard would it be for LL to get off thier asses and do something proactive like making a 7 day wait in order to stop a psycopathic-no life having- socially awkward pos from holding a piece of mainland hostage? I guess what I'm trying to get at is, why doesn't LL actually do anything besides banning someone who comes back minutes later with a new account to only crash veiwers at Help Island? Or, to put it plainly, why doesn't LL take five minutes from their day and instead of sending a Linden there to essentially do nothing helpful, why not implement a 7 day waiting period for anyone that comes to Help Island? To put it in layman's terms, why isn't there anything being done about the psychopathi- no life having- socially awkward pos individual that has been crashing Help Island for months?

PS, great sim. Would recommend.

Let us for the moment consider Help Island for what it was supposed to be - a place for new avatars to get help. (Of course for some time it's become a retirement community for griefers and Don Quixote trainees, but that's neither here nor there.) The messaging you're proposing would be quite interesting - "New? Come to Help Island to get help! Um... next week."

It would be a useful demonstration of the Kafkaesque quality of much of Second Life, but not great for the actual purpose of the establishment.

Pssssst (/me whispers into your ear from behind a hand)

Haven't people got it yet - that the so-called Help Island isn't really for newbies, but is actually for the lingerers and malingers and would-be griefers. Thats why LL appear to do nothing. They leave that sim as a magnet for these waste-of-space basement-dwelling wassocks to go to, then the rest of the grid is safer.

Meanwhile, the newbie avatars who truly need help get redirected to other sims inworld, rescued by the good people, and sometimes find their way here to the forums/answers to seek help.

I love your name.

Bring back last names I say.

I'll set aside the psuedointellectual part of what you said and reply to the part that made the most sense.

Regarding the potentional noobs- most people that seek or sought help at Help Island are and were older than a week. Even in its heyday you were more likely to see a new resident that was already a couple of weeks old. The reasoning is simple, most people didn't seek help right away and instead opted to find people, explore the grid, look at the landscape or hop onto or who or whatever was clickable.

This is somewhat true, now, because LL's answer to something is to turn off voice in areas where the people that you describe hung out at. Essentially punishing everyone else that didn't or wasn't the things you mentioned. So the migration happens. As it is, Help Island hasn't reached the point where it can be likened to a magnet for the type of people that you broad brushed in your petty name calling diatribe.

While what you said may be true, it is also true that people under 7 days went there for help.  How would it look to someone who only came into and is unsure if they want to stay to not be able to get to Help Island?  They may just leave because that would make no sense to them.

Unfortunately LL doesn't not act against the griefs that congregate in these types of places by IP/MAC banning them.

Your question is moot- anyone that comes to Help Island will get repeatedly crashed. This doesn't happen some nights for a couple of minutes. This is every day, several times a day, for the last three months. As I type this there's a 0 day avatar named JustGiveUp that is crashing viewers. LL bans the person, the person creates a new account, rinse and repeat.

For all the concern about new avatars not being able to get into Help Island for the first 7 days there seems to be none for the fact that a well known mainland sim has been held to the whim of one individual for months on end. Wben I said pathological I wasn't exaggerating.
