Can RP Admins ask for logs?

RP Admins can ask for logs, but as already in previous reply, it is expressly against the Terms of Service. However, really, when you think about it, any logs can actually be edited before they are handed over on a notecard to the Admins, so are not of any great value.

In any situation where there are people, there are bound to be people not getting along. Maybe admins should just get some virtual boxing gloves out and put the b4ggers into a ring to fight it out! Or make an animation to knock some heads together!!

That seems to be a big problem with admining on a sim. I once was an admin (never again) but the owner required proof of things before she would take action. some people use voice so its hard to get proof. Also like someone said it's against LLs TOS to copy conversations. So who do you proove that someone is breaking sim rules?

Chatlogs or IM-Logs?

While its usual to ask for a copy of the chatlog (anything what happened during roleplay in open chat), a Mod has nothing to do with any quarrel or he-said/she-said in IMs. People need to handle their private talks by themselfes.

  1. What the hell is an 'RP Admin'? No, don't answer that, if the 'RP' on the sim needs 'admins' then it's time to move on from the pro-para-RP godmod-powergamerz bs.
  2. "He said she saud"... Yeah see point 1, godmod-powergamerz, move on.
  3. Anybody can ASK for IM logs, NOBODY is entitled to them, and giving them away is a violation of the ToS without the consent of all parties.
  4. Anybody worthy of the job title 'Admin' would klnow notecards with logs in are probably going to get edited, and are esentially useless, and would instead base a decision on the known peronalities of the people in dispute, A is an asshat, B is usually honest, but lets ask witness C for their view before banhammering A...
  5. If you are in an 'RP' sim where disputes over who RP'd what and whose godmod-powergaerz RP out ranks whose, results in disputes worthy of banhammers, it's time to move on.

Power-RP, it's what mute and derender were invented for...

The whole "you can't share IM logs" rule is stupid and is probably violated at some point by almost everyone in SL. They could always get around it by setting up a Discord account or the like to copy the logs to (if it's offworld, it's not LL's business). Of more concern is the fact that enough arguments happen that it's an issue in the first place. If somebody isn't mature enough to resolve an RP issue with the others involved without drama, they don't belong in that RP setting in the first place. It should be very rare for an RP manager to have to be called in.

Please don't do this.  Disclosure is disclosure no matter where it happens.  With enough reports it will be acted on.
