I can not switch from premium to free

I can not switch from premium to free, the error message says: An error occurred while processing your request Basic users may not own land. You must release your land before downgrading to the Basic Plan.
What can I do to close premium to return free?

do what it says... release/abandon the land you have at the Linden Homes or Mainland, or donated to a group

If you don't do that you indeed can't go to basic membership and your subscription will stay active.

(private estate land doesn't count)

The message you got clearly says what you need to do. You own land from Linden Lab. But thats a perk only for Premium members. In order to be able to downgrade, you have to abond or sell this land.

Abandon your land.

Not sure what land you own? You can check. First off, do you own a Linden home? That's a premium only perk, and would count as "land," so you'll need to pick up all your stuff and abandon your home. Stand inside, click the land details at the top of the screen, and choose "abandon land" somewhere in the box that pops up. 

You can check if you own any other mainland property by choosing Land Manager on the left hand side of your dashboard.
