Subj: EMAIL VERIFICATION

Ref: (a) Linden Labs email verification process
1. PURPOSE. Linden Labs new email verification process

Please refer to the instructions below on verifying your email addresses. Linden Labs has recently changed its poilicy on email addresses and is now wanting residents to verify email addresses. It is not known at this time whether this is just for maintenance purposes or if unverified accounts will not be able to log in. For now, they are suggesting verifying email addresses due to SL Maintenance. Next update on SL Grid is next week. According to SL-Grid status, maintenance in SL will be planned next week from Monday to Thursday at 5:00pm SLT. So do not be surprised if you can not log in. In addition, you should not conduct any Linden transaction and don't rezz

It would probably be wise to verify your email addresses just in case. Below is the process for verifying your email address. I have done this and it does work.

An official announcement by Linden Lab will be published on this topic soon.

Steps to verify your Second Life email address:

1. Log into your SL account on secondlife.com
2. Select menu item "Account"> "Change E-Mail Address".
3. Behind your existing e-mail address click on "Verify".
4. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to your e-mailaddress.
5. Go into your e-mail account and click on the link in the confirmation e-mail.
6. Re-opens the "Change E-Mail Address" page in your SL account. Now, "✔ Verified" should appear after the existing e-mail address.

Yes, it's for real.  Like any business, Linden Lab upgrades its internal software from time to time.  They appear to be doing it now.  An upgrade of the e-mail response system gives them an opportunity to verify e-mail addresses that are stored there today, many of which are way out of date.  Here in Answers we often get questions from people who have trouble submitting a support case or even logging in because Linden Lab can't send reply messages to ancient, expired addresses.  This is your big chance to take 20 seconds and verify yours.  Don't forget each of your alts, too. :smileywink:
