ABUSE OF THE GAME Treasure Quest

Question

Players collecting more than 60 linden are being banned from the game to not be paid.

<REDACTED>

Because I didn't say anything in the chat ? or because I collected more 60 linden and they don't want to pay me ?

I ask Linden Labs' help to look more closely at Second Life games because this type of lindens fraud is happening very often and many players like me are being harmed by criminals and thieves as the moderators of this game Treasure Quest that make us collect coins and then banish without paying with a stupid excuse.

OBS: It's worth noting that they only paid me what I collected after much fighting with one of the moderators and even then they didn't pay me the full amount of what I had collected.

A three-part response:

1. We are all SL residents in this site.  Lindens never come here, and we cannot do anything about resolving your issue.

2. You agreed to the SL TOS, which says (Sect 6): "You are solely responsible for your interaction with other users of the Service, whether online or offline. We are not responsible or liable for the conduct or content of any user. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor or become involved in disputes between you and other users."

3. The in-game community you are concerned about has its own rules.  If you have a disagreement about them, you'll need to discuss it with them.

You are on your own.

ETA:  L$60 is about 24 cents.

I will say this, if you happen to go to a store or other land where you find the Treasure Quest coins, and click them.. and manage to get a hud, common sense should tell you to find out more about how to join if you cannot find a group joiner.  Not only that, every single coin you click tells you to read our Terms of Service.  Our rules are ever changing because people find new ways to cheat, to be greedy, or just flat out abuse the game.  To be honest, there are other games following our examples (i.e. not allowing you to teleport others to items, allowing you to click only one item at a time, and other things.)  Having to say Thank You for dashes and Mega coins? If someone walked up to you on the street and handed you say $50 (or equivalent to your country's currency) are you just going to walk away from them and say nothing or would you thank them for being KIND?

Instead of saying we abuse people, think of all the abuse the admin and owners have to deal with because people wish to be bullies or rude and expect nothing to happen to them.   Traffic games like Treasure Quest and any other game you play in world that pays you to just collect 'funds' is a privalage NOT A RIGHT!  The fact some of you cannot grasp this is.. beyond absurd

Get off your self righteous soapboax. Without people 'playing' that game you'd be earning diddly squat. They are what keeping it alive. You should thank them for making you richer.

Your example is laughable. Please try again with one that actually compares.

So You are saying  I am earning by being a land owner or an admin?  Please..   I play the game and I am a land owner.. I earn NOTHING being a land owner OR admin.  NOTHING.. what I earn in game is what I hunt myself.  Geeze.. certain people from certain games have really gotten to you...  Still I stand by saying that playing  ANY traffic game is a Privilege... NOT a right.  So get off your self righteous little hickory stump before you get splinters in your feet

If it makes you feel any better, I got banned from Treasure Quest simply for joining a group that the owner of TQ was having a fight with the owner of the second group.  And, that second group land had TQ coins on it and had been a previous TQ coin site.  Explain that one. :)   Somehow, you must monitor who they are currently having disputes with and not join those groups.  Good luck on that everyone!

With Treasure Quest they will ban for various reasons, whether stated in their TOS or not.  Best bet is to cash out everyday. :)

I just got banned from TQ for clicking on a gem that was behind the wall of a "castle", As a matter of fact I've been accused of camming or something like that, which I assume is to look for coins or gems with the search engine, which I haven't. I was near the gem and I spotted it because there is one point at going up the ramp of the castle where I can almost go through the wall. Even after explaining this I have been banned, and of course they will not pay me my well- earned  60 or so lindens , that I am trying to save to buy a body for my avatar since I cannot afford to spend not even a cent of real money on a game, given my precarious economical position. After I paid the administrator the linden I had earned clicking on that gem, I think I have the right at least to defend my position. There should be exceptions. I know there are people who abuse the game, but I am not one of them. I hardly earn 10 lindens a day the days I can play, so I don't see why I am the public enemy to be banned. And yes, I also think not paying me the money I had been saving for days is theft.

in this game it means to take away every sl ability you have its as if you are in rl you can not put your hand thru wall so no camming every thru a wall no sitting on things to get to the other side of walls or on other side of doors have to walk around the wall or open the door and walk in no lazy stuff.... cant over do it and like the one say getting coins while on a mega thats a no no i mean how much does one need already getting a mega do you really need to be so greedy and get coins too wasnt the mega enough... and well for those that like to run in and grab everything they can like one is robbing a jewelary store and takin all they can hold and not waiting for the group or askin for the group first what the owner does is her right.... after all the TERMS OF SERVICE DOES SAY THIS ........

We reserve the right to ban any avatar, at any time, for any reason.

plus when you all try to join the group you get the first hint its a closed group when cant join but you still keep hunting anyways and not ask for group you spend months hunting but still never ask for group our coins even say *Treasure Quest is a private game*  if you dont read the rules or read the what the coins say and you still keep hunting or breakin rules you only have yourself to blame why blame others for your actions you break the law you cant blame the judge cus you broke the law you cant blame the car cus you were driving drunk you have to face the conciquences sometime in your life if you do wrong and not keep blaming others...

People

As is access to a spelling dictionary, ...

It is to late ... your wannabe TOS already claims we accepted them... shhh, don't show them to a lawyer, they might die from a laughing attack...xD

Your game's ever changing rules are well known to the traffic generating game community, the people I know still in find the rules about forced gratitude as ridiculous as I do but say nothing because they fear to be punished... I pity them, but I won't sell out myself for how much are your megas? 500L for 6 hours ... and you have to click you're there all 5 minutes or all proceedings are lost? Yes I see people are desperate enough to do this, but I am not. I can earn more in the Realms, LOL (and that includes the coffee break I don't get in your game)

Interesting perspective, what do you think, we think of what you are?

PS: Yes I guess I'm banned by now in your group, Hurray to you for proofing my point if I am :P

Forced Gratitude??? No one forces you to click the coins in the first place... or any item in a traffic game. No one forces you to play Second Life in the first place.   Then again, I'm sure the concept of gratitude eludes you entirely

Nobody from Linden Lab ever reads or responds to questions here, Strigo. This is strictly a users-trying-to-help-other-users forum.

If you want to contact Linden Lab about it you can open a support case. You find it under the Help tab at the top of this page. Don't hope for much though. Linden Lab very rarely interfere in disputes between users.

Edit: I checked the Treasure Quest ToS and the violation you admit to is very clear there, right at the top of the page and in bold even. No matter how silly you think that rule is, you agreed to follow it the moment you joined the game. If you think about it, it's even easy to understand why they have that rule.

Their game, their rules.  You must follow the rules to be paid.  End of story.  I would suggest that when you do talk to the person you don't argue with them or tell them how stupid or absurd the rule is.  IF you do you'll probably be banned from playing in the future.

The other's are right, LL will not intefer.

first i want to clear something up

Klytyna we do not charge for the treasure quest coins at all they are free always to anyone that wants to be part of treasure quest as a landowner... second the tax is only 10% at the time you put into the funds bank so you put in 100L into the funds bank and only money that goes to the owners of the game is 10L period... no other tax all new coins all mega coins all other coins that come out are freely given out to all landowners always and forever... and the rest of the 90L will go to fill any coins put out and the coins will keep refilling till the money is gone from the funds bank... now there is no other game out there that has coins that you can make 25L or 50L or 75L or 100L or 200L or 250L or 300L or 500L or 700L from just one single coin but we at treasure quest do have them and they are put out daily by all out landowners... now we do enforce our rules so remember if you play you can not ever use camera tools no landmarks to lands no derendering no teleporting to coins no teleporting friends family sl partners no highlight transparency no area search no hover text... after all its a hunt and all must play fair and on the same level as if all are newbies and never knew how to do any of those things... the huds website links for dashes and megas in group will get you to all the coins and they make you land always at the landing spot or anchor.. have to be 90 days old to get to hq always... no one is forced to play treasure quest but you all do have to follow the rules.... and people easily make thousands of lindens weekly enough to pay for tier and shop fees...

That's a debatable point.  According to the TOS,

3.1. "Linden Dollars" are virtual tokens that we license. Each Linden Dollar is a virtual token representing contractual permission from Linden Lab to access features of Second Life. Linden Dollars are available for Purchase or distribution at Linden Lab's discretion, and are not redeemable for monetary value from Linden Lab.

The L$ you earn in any game is like poker chips, not money. What you earn in this game is not even L$.  It's their own game coins. Since you have not put any of your own L$ into the game, you haven't lost anything if the game's owners decide not to let you redeem coins as you leave.

OK, let's not turn this thread into an argument between a game creator and disgruntled participants.

Jenni, thank you for your clarifications.

Personally, I'm with Rolig on all of these "earn $L" games.  And, for that matter, Skill games.  And Real Life casinos, too.  ALL such games are run for the benefit of the operator.  In RL casinos, it's called "the house percentage".  People who think that these games are there so that they can make an easy living are deluding themselves.  That's just how the world works; no one is going to create a game, market it, and pay out expenses just for your benefit.

My advice to all gamers is, stop wasting your life chasing rainbows.  Learn a skill, get a job, start a business, make something of worth, provide a service.  (like Jenni, for example!)  And that applies to SL and RL both.

Sorry to tell you this, but your report will accomplish nothing. As long as they do not violate TOS, then LL will not get involved. Chalk it up as a learning experience and move on with the SLife.

I still play this game, but they failed to say in the TOS now they have a new rule: You cannot claim a coin of 1 linden value or more if you haven't at least collcted 25 wooden coins, which sometimes is difficult to know, because usually you don't count all the coins you collect, so sometimes you may ende up waiting 5 minutes or so for a coin that does not give you anything., but a message saying "You need to collect more woodden coins". It would be far more easier if the TQ HUD had a sectoin where you could see if you can already collect a 1L coin.

I can help implement this into the HUD if you need any help(This goes for TQ owners). Thanks for all the help to the forum.

reveiling chat between residents is a violation of the SL TOS,  you risk a ban.

Not if the terms of the game were not met.  If someone does not do EVERYTHING that the game requires, then they are not entitled to the payout - IMO anyway.

First, this is an old thread.  Secondly, it is against forum rules to complain about a person or a company by name.  I suggest you delete your post.  As for your complaint, you have two options.  1) You can send another polite IM, and a notecard would be good too because IMs are often capped.  Ask for a group invitation.  Or, 2) You can simply forget about it and move on.  There's an endless choice of other things to do and enjoy in SL!

They are either thieves or the power has gone to their heads...and I have reported them for unfair practices.....several alts have collected coins from them and cannot cash in....if you go to their sites you usually won't see anyone playing the game...I have even seen one of the owners collecting coins....if that is not unethical I do not know what is!!!!

The general rule in Second Life is "caveat emptor".   Residents are free to create just about anything they want.  Other residents are free to buy those products, or not.  If you don't like something, don't buy it/use it/participate in it.

As I've said many times, I personally don't feel that any of the "Get Free $L" games or programs are worth the trouble.  Buy your $L with a credit card, or learn to create and sell your creations, or offer your talents or services, if you want to earn money in world.  Nothing is really free, or even easy, either in real life or in Second Life.

Treasure Quest is a Closed system, meaning you have to be in their group to play. You can hunt all you want but when you go to Cash out at the ATM, you get a message saying you must wear your group tag to withdraw funds. There is no way to join their group and if you ask for a group invite they ignore you and in some cases just ban you without a reason.

I sent an IM to the owner to let her know that her group joiner wasn't working and I just got the same spiel as above about how people are earning unimaginable wealth by camping for coins (yeah right). It was obviously leading up to a demand for money in exchange for an invite. I doubt she would have bothered responding if I didn't have payment info on file.

Not all these collecting/fishing/hunting games are scams. They're fine as a way of picking up a few pennies while you IM people or sort inventory, but that's as far as it goes. Just as in RL, if something sounds too good to be true it usually is.

I have been reading some of the comments about treasure quest and I for one firmly believe they have made it easy to get a player banned even if the player is not aware of it. In their TOS it says ' Excessive greed (Collecting only mega’s or gems) or similar behavior is grounds for a ban ' now I was told that I had collected some thing like 50 coins while I was waiting on a mega coin  ( no evidence was shown ), now the problem is how is any one to know how many coins they have collected through the day or an hour or in the 20 mins they say you are only allowed because I for one don't have a clue they are the only ones that know. If they think what I did was bannable what about the mass amount of alts that play TQ . Treasure Hunts is not worth any ones times and the good land owners need to choose a better system to get traffic to their land.
