Buying land from players, is there a rent fee after u buy still?

There is always a weekly fee to pay somebody if you are occupying land in SL.  If you own the land, you pay a maintenance fee to Linden Lab.  If you rent, you pay the landowner, who has to pay Linden Lab.  It's just like RL:  You either pay a mortgage and property taxes, or you pay rent to someone else who does.

To be even clearer ... if you are on a private estate, you can only buy a whole region at a time. When you "buy" a parcel, you don't have exclusive rights to the land.  You are a tenant of the region owner, who determines the covenant, controls what you can do with the land, and can boot you at any time, so you pay that landowner rent.  If you are on the Mainland, you may actually own a parcel (if you are a Premium member), so you pay a monthly maintenence fee to Linden Lab yourself.  If you are just renting, then expect to pay the owner a weekly or monthy rent.

In addition to the other responses, there is at least one land company who will put a parcel of mainland up for sale, and also have a rental box on the land.  In that case, you can either rent the land from them (and they remove the land from being for sale while you are renting) or you can choose to buy the land, in which case after the purchase, you just pay monthly tier to Linden Lab based on the amount of mainland property than you own.
