Why do I keep crashing or saying its not responding

SL has been a little flakier than usual for the past few days, so you are not alone.  I have crashed three times since yesterday morning, and that almost never happens to me.  Having said that, though, there are plenty of reasons why you might crash on a normal day.  If you are disconnecting, rather than crashing, there may be things you can do for your machine or your Internet connection (like getting off of wireless and rebooting your router, for example).  If you are truly crashing, though, it may take a while to work through all of the possible viewer settings that might help.  A good place to start thinking about them is here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_run_crash .
