0 Amethyst Jetaime
Your viewer's cache may be corrupted and not replacing the skin. It happens. Clear your cache under Preferences>Network and relog. If you still don't see your things right, do a clean re-install of your viewer. Here is how to do that https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 The link provided is for the official SL viewer, but also works for third party viewers. You viewer name will be substituted for the SL viewer name.
0 Lindal Kidd
When using a mesh body, you don't use the normal Wear command that you use to put on or replace a skin on the classic avatar body. Instead, you use an "applier", a small HUD that applies the skin texture to the mesh body. Changing the skin may be a bit different from one mesh body to another. Read the instruction notecard that came with your mesh body carefully. You might have to use the body's main HUD to clear the skin layer. Another great resource for mesh body parts, with detailed reviews, is meshbodyaddicts.com. Plus, Strawberry Singh and others often post review videos of mesh bodies and heads on YouTube. These reviews contain a detailed rundown of the various HUD controls.
0 Syo Emerald
Mesh body: You probably had a different skin on your mesh body before you tried the demo, right? If so, go into your inventory and find that applier HUD for that skin and use it. That will replace the demo skin. If you had no additional skin for your mesh body, use the HUD of your body and look for an option to get rid of every applied layer. This should get you back to the standart skin your mesh body came with.
0 Rolig Loon
Sort of. I think what you are discovering is that a skin on your mesh body is put there with an applier, but a skin on your real body -- the classic avatar that is always inside your mesh body -- is applied directly on the body without an applier. If the demo skin is on your mesh body, then you need to change it with an applier designed for your Maitreya body.
0 RoostersHen
I recently moved into Maitreya Lara mesh body, but had not applied any skins, using whatever came with the body I purchased, until today. I obtained a demo of "Starry Gisele Maitreya Body Hud Demo" and when I tried it, it applied "Demo" labels on my skin. How do I get rid of this? I tried to purchase another skin, not a demo, and apply it, but that did not remove the "demo" labels. I need help.
0 Rolig Loon
Wear any other skin in your inventory -- for example, whatever skin you were wearing before you went shopping. If you are really desperate, use a basic Avatar Test to go back to factory specs. For the future... It's very wise to make yourself an Emergency outfit that you can wear any time you need to reset yourself to a comfortable default state. Mine is called Just Me. It's just my bare naked self, wearing nothing more than my favorite hair, my Maitreya HUD, and the shape, skin, eyes, and hair base that are the absolute minimum things that define any avatar. If I ever get stuck with an odd selection of clothing and other attachments, I can get rid of them all by becoming Just Me in an instant.
0 Nalates Urriah
I took Rolig's idea steps farther. I have "starter" Outfits that are my nude avatar. What I consider my avatar body, a wet version of that, an Hourglass version for those outfits I JUSt HAD TO HAVE made only for HG, I'm thinking of a petite version, and a few that have a bunch of naughty attachments. I use these to start new outfits. Body parts that get changed (think applier swimsuit) get saved as a copy. I wear the copy THEN save the outfit. The starter outfit remains unchanged and while the body may still have the applier swimsuit on I can change it without breaking my just saved outfit. I've messed up a few avatar bodies and lots of Outfits. So, I also have a test body... A complete set of all my body parts made of copies of my Slink body and only ever used with the test outfit. I can apply test skins, or whatever, and never be concerned about 'removing' them or having to find my original skin, that is on my starter avatar version.
