Jazmina Voom
Hi,I have a problem that when I try to Crtl + J (join) the top and bottom parts of an avatar, the whole thing gets squashed into a mess. I cannot seem to find any solution to this, nor find anything on the internet to resolve the issue. In all trainings I see the joining of body parts is just that simple - Ctrl+j and you are done. Does anyone know what is going on here? I am using Blender 2.72 and Avastar version1.7-
Gaia Clary
Read this page: http://legacy.avastar.online/reference/first-steps/ down to the bottom I edited the Avastar document pages a bit to make it easier to find how to fix your issue. However the fix is here: http://legacy.avastar.online/workflows/editable-avastars/
Callum Meriman
It's weird Gaia, All of your Vimeos always show "Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here." Have you ever considered another video service? One that allows playback?
Jazmina Voom
Thanks for the replies! It looks like you have to remove all the weights before joining the body parts, but what I am trying to do is create a fitted mesh one piece jumpsuit. I was hoping to copy the weights from the upper and lower parts of the body. Is this not possible?
Gaia Clary
where do you see this message please? can you give me a link ?
Gaia Clary
You do not need to remove weights before joining parts. Maybe you try to join parts while the sliders are enabled? This might lead to unexpected behavior (possibly)
Jazmina Voom
Hi Gaia, I misunderstood the directions for the freeze tool. It says in the video to "enable remove weight groups" but I don't think I need to select that... I tried it an it seems to work fine! Thank you so much. I should probably create a new thread for this, but do you happen to know how to transfer the weights onto the secondary bones? Those ones in red as opposed to blue when in pose mode? If I understand the weighting system correctly (which may not be the case!), those are the bones that need to be weighted if you are to have a fitted mesh object that will react to say, the fat slider. Is that correct? Is there a simple process for this? Thanks again!
