I've got the Project Viewer - Mesh and am standing in a Mesh Sandbox region (see Help --> About below).

  • When I rez the object, nothing appears (e.g., the street lamp sample).

  • Guessing where the object is, I can bump into it.  The physics engine knows it's there.

  • When I turn on Develop --> Render Metadata --> Physics Shapes, two thing happen:

-----1.  I see the physical shape.
-----2.  It gets *very* laggy (I had to turn graphics options all the way, clear cache, and relog to make it acceptable).
  • While rendering physical shapes, I can edit the object, make it a light source, and see the light at nighttime.

Anyone have an idea why I can't see the mesh objects?  Are there options I'm missing somewhere?

Somewhat off-topic question:  Is there an OpenSim release that support these COLLADA meshes?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply.  I tried rezzing the streetlamp somewhat near 0,0 in the region.  Then I derendered the ground (Ctrl-Shift-Alt-5) and water (Ctrl-Shift-Alt-7) to take a look at (0, 0, 0) and still didn't see it.

Just now I broke down and installed the latest "development snapshot" (Second Life 2.6.3 (225675) Apr  4 2011 10:37:37 (Project Viewer - Mesh)) and it worked!  I'm leary of unstability though.  Would be nice to see working in a "stable" release.

I am currently experiencing the same problem and have not been able to solve it. How ever, meshes I made and uploaded a few weeks ago do work  but when I upload new meshes the do not appear in world.

I am experimenting with older builds to see if I can get it working again.

Notice at the bottom of the version download pages are links to older versions.

Not all are listed. I don't understand how to navigate the various viewer branches to find specific versions. But, I am told it is possible.

For instance finding the April 1 release 2.6.3-255638 with avatar physics was nearly impossible for me. Fortunately someone helped me.

I have found a few other bugs so far  that have to do with the not being able to see uploaded meshes.

After experimenting for a wile using differed ways to export my meshes from autodesk maya I discovered that the server ignored measurements at that moment.

My meshes are not scaled correctly and there for sometimes to small to render, wile the do in fact ress the size is so small its not rendered and there for does not sexist according to the client.

What I have tried is scaling the object up in maya before exporting but that made no difference.
As you might now maya's default measurements are in CM not in meters like sl so my next best guess was to change the scale in maya from CM to meters before exporting. No luck there either.
How ever older meshes I made before the update that I have re uploaded did work just fine and had no trouble uploading them. Them meshes are scaled in cm in maya but still take on correct size when uploaded.

Finally just to make sure I started to take apart the XML code of the mesh to see if it was me having a change or error in exporting. Unfortunately there was no errors in the code **Only uploaded images may be used in postings**://secondlife.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif" border="0" alt=":smileysad:" title="Smiley Sad" />

My guess now is that something changes the scale of the model when uploading the mesh. I am going to install the latest viewer again and see what more I can find out about this mysterious bug.

Information from other people having the same problem is most welcome at this current topic ill keep bumping it till I find the solution.

Note: make sure to check your face normal first before you post here. Reversed faces on your model make your model appear invisible wile the physical property will still work.

I found this thread by using forum search, and am not familiar enough with jira to really want to post or mess with it.

However today I have noticed the same issue. I can rez the model, and it is invisible. I can bump into it. I can modify it. If I change the object type.. to something other than its mesh stiching it will blink/appear for a second then tell me I can't change stitching type and go back to invisibility.

My models normals are correct, it uploads into unity 3D correctly and is part 2 of 2.. in which part 1 rezzed successfully without issues.

I have tried to import the mesh onto grid as a cluster and individually with my collada file and have had no success.
