when i initially log on and try to launch second life it goes to a beach scene and wont let me

when i initially log on and then try to launch second life it takes me to a beach scene, then it wants me to log on a second time, then it just says login failed unable to connect to simulator. I tried second life a few months ago but hassles like this made me just cancel it.

Go to Me > Preferences on the login screen and check the box next to "Show on Login", click OK and close prefernces.

Now you should have a drop-down menu on the login screen next to where you enter your username & password, type in the start location Smith and try logging in there.
