Deleting a posted question - solved

If no one has responded to your question, you can delete it

1) - Log in

2) - Click on question posted 

3) - Click "options" / "question options" (either one)

4) - Click "delete"

Thanks for posting that.  It isn't necessarily obvious, and it's a good thing to know.  :smileywink:

For completeness, it's worth pointing out that you cannot delete a thread once someone else has responded.  The rationale is that a thread with reponses is no longer yours.  It is public information, so you don't have the right to delete other people's posts in it.

You can of course edit your own posts in any thread.  As a matter of etiquette in the SL forums, though, it's considered bad form to remove the content of a post at the start of a thread.  There are two reasons for that.  One is purely a matter of politeness.  Removing content that started a thread leaves everyone else's responses hanging without a context, which is impolite to those posters.  The better reason is that your post may be exactly what someone else wanted to discuss or ask about.  Our threads in the forums are valuable archives.  Answers to your question will benefit many people who find it later in a search, and they help us all learn more about how SL works.
