What factors into raising your business in "Search"

If you mean your rank in the Classifieds section of Search, the main factor is how much you pay for your ad.  I have no idea how some of these stores pay the amounts that the listings show they do, however!

Your rank in other categories of Search, such as "Places" is unaffected by the amount you pay for a Classified ad.

Appropriate keywords are important.  However, keyword spam is strongly discouraged.  Only use keywords that really apply to your business.

Maturity rating of your land and business can be a factor.  People who do not have Moderate and Adult enabled in their Search settings will not see your store if it isn't G rated.

Besides showing up in Search, there are other ways to advertise your business.  Maintain a blog.  Make sure your Profile and those of others involved in the business contain links to it.  Host a web page for the business.  Include a link to your business in your forum signature (see mine, for an example).  Have landmark givers located at other, related venues (they may want a rental fee for that; it can be worthwhile if it is not exorbitant.)  Hold events at your place of business.  Have a club or a store group for the business, and put things on sale for group members.  Have games and freebies like Lucky Chairs or Midnight Mania boards.  Sell content in a Marketplace store as well as an inworld store.
